Hi,
Since updating from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2, mirror link has stopped working with my Pioneer headunit. Is the Z3 still certified with 5.0.2 update?
It worked perfectly with 4.4.4. I have a Pioneer AVH-X2700BS unit (certified with mirrorlink 1.1).
My head unit keeps telling me to reset the smart device setting.
i have a z3 updated to lollipop, it was working fine on jelly bean. my head unit is a pioneer avh-x2600bt.
it tries to connect but fails. This is deffo to do with lollipop software update. hope this can be resolved
Have you made any modifications to your Z3 like unlocking the bootloader? This will stop Mirrorlink from working as the security keys are deleted when you unlock the bootloader.
Hello Rickard!
It is awesome to know that Sony staff does actually takes care of its customers!
Any news from Pioneer?
I have a Vanilla Xperia Z1 (locked bootloader) running on Lollipop that I simply cannot use the MirrorLink feature, because it also shows the reset smart device message, and it would be great if this problem was fixed.
Thank you!
hi,
so im a to contact pioneer to solve this issue, why does it work on kit kat.?
Spoke to pioneer about this problem, there is no firmware update for lolipop. They are saying if its mirrorlink certified product it should work.
So seems to be an Android/sony xperia issue.
On another note. on one of the popular auction sites there is a device call airplay. It retails from £40-£75. this device woks by wifi, so you connect your phone via wifi and the box plugs into the aux of head unit. This will give you screen mirroring. Downside is you cant use the headunit touchscreen you have to control via phone. Just an idea if you wanted to connect your phone for maps, music, films this is an option.
Will Lollipop on Z3 be Mirrorlink 1.1 certified at some stage? If I remember correctly Z3 running KitKat was Mirrorlink 1.1 certified but at the moment atleast my Z3 running Lollipop is running Mirrorlink 1.0. The Skoda Fabia Bolero radio seems to require Mirrorlink 1.1 to work and Z3 users on KitKat report that Mirrorlink in fact works with the Skoda radio but I can't get it to work with Lollipop.
I can see this is just going to be a blame game between the two manufacturers. I logged this issue ages ago and theres been no movement. I've also spoken to Pioneer and they blame Sony. There's an easy fix for this:
I WILL NOT BE BUYING EITHER A SONY SMARTPHONE OR A PIONEER HEAD UNIT IN THE FUTURE. Both manufacturers have lost my loyalty. For some silly reason I have purchased from Sony so far:
Xperia Z phone, Xperia Z2 tablet and Xperia Z3 phone. They will not be getting any more of my money. Niether will Pioneer.
Ok guys, I had the same problem with mirrorlink. I have the Pioneer avic-f960dab and the Z3+. I upgraded from the Z2 which worked flawlessly with mirrorlink. Anyway, I called up Pioneer first of all and they gave me the usual speil about technology etc going out of date and they are no longer supporting mirrorlink in their latest models but going for Android Auto. I told them that I couldn't get Android Auto to work either. They said they didn't know what to do and blames it on everyone else for not updating the software etc and it was left at that, so Yes pioneer support isn't good at all. Anyway, I called Sony and they were surprised to hear about the mirrorlink issue and told me to try doing a phone repair through pc companion. Well, last night I carried out the phone repair and guess what, It only worked. I went out to my car this morning, plugged the phone in and it told me that my head unit was asking for the mirrorlink connection to be established, I said yes and the screen of my phone appeared on my head unit and everything is now working. So anyone still with problems should try the phone repair but it means putting the phone back to factory settings which was no problem for me as I've only had the phone a few days and nothing was lost
