Battery Drain

Hi all,

I´ve received my Sony Xperia P 2 days ago in Germany from Amazon Germany. Everything seemed to be working fine but unfortunately if the phone is in standby as well as when it´s being used, the battery drops rapidly and the phone shuts down after approximately 8 to 10 hours. Turning 3g off, wirless off, switching to wcdma or gsm only does not fix the problem either. As I have read this problem occured with the Xperia S as well which was then fixed by a firmware update to the version 6.0.A.3.73. Since the phone has been released here 2 days ago only there are basically no complaints about this issue with the P yet. Is there any solution planned already? I guess Xperia P users can´t use the same firmware of the S since the build has got a "B" instead of the "A" in it.

Sony - is there a firmware update in the pipeline to fix the ridiculous battery life of the Xperia P or do I need to return it?

Thanks a lot..

Ra

So you are using a Xperia P as well?I´ll test turning all data and everything off but what´s the sense of that ... I want to see if I receive mails etc. Battery performance was three times as much on Motorola Milestone 1 - I mean I can turn it all off but I remember yesterday to repeat it again, Youtube - one song - 5 minutes - 10% battery ... when is the Update being released, is it dependent on the country?

the Motorola Milestone is a single core phone with a cpu clocked at 600Mhz that drains a LOT less battery than a Dual Core 1Ghz CPU.

but yeah there is something running in the background, go to settings -> applications -> running services and take screenshots

Ok, have stopped all of them since I´m not even using all these widgets and apps... really weird. No idea, hope Sony takes a look at our discussion and releases the new versio 6.0.B.1.576 soon worldwide. I might just change the phone but I guess this is not really the solution.

That´s great - hope to hear something soon.

Remove recommender widget, it's useless

Same for the guide 'hilfe' widget

I´ve stopped them from running anyway.. result with wirless on: 1 hour 23 mins, 83% battery, equals 12 hours runtime altogether... argh
