Battery Drain

Hi all,

I´ve received my Sony Xperia P 2 days ago in Germany from Amazon Germany. Everything seemed to be working fine but unfortunately if the phone is in standby as well as when it´s being used, the battery drops rapidly and the phone shuts down after approximately 8 to 10 hours. Turning 3g off, wirless off, switching to wcdma or gsm only does not fix the problem either. As I have read this problem occured with the Xperia S as well which was then fixed by a firmware update to the version 6.0.A.3.73. Since the phone has been released here 2 days ago only there are basically no complaints about this issue with the P yet. Is there any solution planned already? I guess Xperia P users can´t use the same firmware of the S since the build has got a "B" instead of the "A" in it.

Sony - is there a firmware update in the pipeline to fix the ridiculous battery life of the Xperia P or do I need to return it?

Thanks a lot..

Ra

That's not normal, i have a battery drain of 1% in 1.5-2 hrs

Some process is draining battery (widget, backgound sync..)

Check battery usage, remove unwanted widget and check running processes

hi thanks for replying, can you post screenshots of your battery usage and/or phone setting?

Well at least some more people with the same issue... I´m wondering why Sony is not releasing this update as uliwooly provided the link some posts above that one:

http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=21034

The problems you can find in different forums are:

1. Battery drain

2. Phone randomly turning off

3. Screen turning green when brightness being tuned up

It´s really sad that Sony in incapable of updating the devices even some weeks after the realese!!! Nobody wants to wait for ICS which has been pushed back as well contrary to the promises made while selling the phone!

Here you are battery stats and services running

I removed nearly all widgets (timescape, guide, recommender) except google bar ant time widget and uninstalled some useless stuff like recommender

Sony should go to 3rd party companys to create more powerfull battery for this phone, atleast give us the option to replace the battery by our selfs or by a repair shop or something.. otherwise Sony is doomed.!

I really dont understand why they put in such battery in a hi-tech phone?? saving money on batterys is the most dumbest thing to do in the smartphone buisnes, i would pay 100$ extra for 300 mah extra power.

you will get the same answer as other 2011 Xperia users waiting for ICS, is your phone locked to a network? if it is contact your network

http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/199357#199357

If you find your SI in the released software table the software for your device is released and available in PC Companion and Bridge for Mac where you can update your Xperia™ Smartphone.

We will continue to add items in the list as soon as they are released.

We will however not be able to answer on questions like: "When will SI number XXXX-XXXX be added to this list?" or "when will country X get the update?"
