Battery Drain

Hi all,

I´ve received my Sony Xperia P 2 days ago in Germany from Amazon Germany. Everything seemed to be working fine but unfortunately if the phone is in standby as well as when it´s being used, the battery drops rapidly and the phone shuts down after approximately 8 to 10 hours. Turning 3g off, wirless off, switching to wcdma or gsm only does not fix the problem either. As I have read this problem occured with the Xperia S as well which was then fixed by a firmware update to the version 6.0.A.3.73. Since the phone has been released here 2 days ago only there are basically no complaints about this issue with the P yet. Is there any solution planned already? I guess Xperia P users can´t use the same firmware of the S since the build has got a "B" instead of the "A" in it.

Sony - is there a firmware update in the pipeline to fix the ridiculous battery life of the Xperia P or do I need to return it?

Thanks a lot..

Ra

You´re right, I´ve just installed that to see how much baterry I´ve got left without having to go to the settings and use much power for the display and ruining the test. Of course wireless takes power but how can it take 5 % in 50 minutes.. over night e.g. 8 hours means 40% battery in standby would be gone... that´s just impossible. The phone has no other apps running -- it has been reset before the test, like I said wireless and the battery indicator one which is supposedly not using any battery at all (would be shown in the stats if it did).

this phone was just released, for the most part phones that are released have battery life issues that are fixed after few updates. Android 4.0.4 is coming Slightly_smiling_Face

This is for the Xperia S but it'll be similar to the Xperia P

check this video

Android 4.0.4 build number 6.1.A.0.401

I´ve got

A6.0.B.1.564ECOApr 24, 2012

....

For the Xperia S the versions above 70 seem to fix the problem. For some reason I am not able to get the new version though, neither via the update function on the phone nor with the companion. Is there a way for me to get it? 🙂 We´re getting closer, yay...

In my experience standby just drains 1% in 1.5-2 hrs (wifi/data/bluetooth off). And i have the same software version

To use WhiteMagic set AutoBrightness with PowerSave

From your screenshot is evident there's some process draining the battery (normally most of battery drain is due to display).

Check running processes, also remove unwanted widgets from your homescreen (guide, suggestions..).

You can try manually stopping a running process until you get the culprit.

Also after some bettery charge cycles you should see improvements in battery life
