Disabling the adapt to lighting conditions box seems to be working for me. Really could we get an official answer from SONY in here?

I am not sure if I should return it or not. Would it help? It happened AGAIN on the 2nd day owning this phone. I like it more and more, but this totally kills it for me Slightly_frowning_Face

Happened to me 2 tmes in 2 days but since then, hasnt happened for the last week now.

If it happens again - I'm taking it back.

Apart from this hiccup - AMAZING Phone.

I did a software repair from Sony PC Companion (which is good software). Haven't seen the unllock issue since. But it's less than 24 hours, so I won't pop the champagne just yet...

I owned Z1 for three days and encountered the blackout screen problem too. Very disappointing as it is obvious a bug unfixed or batch issue. I tried connecting to its power charger and hold the on/off button several times but was unsuccessful. Eventually using a needle to restart the small red button beside the sim card works. My phone already has the latest software release thus it may not be good enough just to update the software version.

Had my Xperia Z1 for 6 days now and I got this issue yesterday and the screen didn't want to start up until just a few hours ago. Now when I tried the phone again it went black again after 10min. :/. Guess I will go and return it and get a new one tomorrow.

I had my first one 2 1/2 weeks for its screen went dead and nothing would revive it. I had followed all the advice about knocking off the optimisation etc but it still went off. Then I got my replacement which lasted only 3days before the exact same problem. Now waiting on my 3rd one which I hope lasts longer but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Its a great phone when it works but I seem to be having a run of bad luck.

I was about to buy this phone and luckily I came across this forum. Sony don't care about their customer. It looks like Note 3 will be my new phone. Thanks guys for saving my and I really feel sorry for all Z1 owners. The phone looks beautiful but the truth is, it's a phone.

Had my z1 1 hour and experienced this problem, so sad sony. I've had the phone 2 days and I've had to reset 4 times already! what is sony doing about this! Unbelievable to release a phone that's not ready. In this hard market sony really needs to pick up their game. Adittionally, what is with their sync program "media to go" 12 hours and STILL syncing a misely 3gig

I too have had this, basically it was a black screen that looked like it was off at first glance, but if you looked properly you could see that it was infact on but completly black, it was also accpompanied by a flashing yellow light, which I have yet to see mentioned.
