To fix a sudden death I recently experienced follow uliwooly a advice.
First my phone died at 40percent... Just went dead.

So I will note exactly what was the cause in my case and steps I used to resolve this.

My phone was on 42%battery life so to conserve battery for the evening I selected auto adapt light under brightness.. Bluetongue was also on with Wifi.

About 20 minutes later I wanted to make a quick call.

My phone was dead... So I pressed the power key. Phone booted....Sony logo... And then just went blank.

So I pressed the power key and Volume up. The unit vibrated and went to off mode.

I pressed the on key... Vibration then nothing.

I didn't make anything of it and have previously had it that my phone had a sudden battery drain.

Got home put the phone on charge... No red light.

No response.

So after purchasing a new phone as no shop wanted to touch the phone...and an idiot in shelly beach Vodafone broke my back cover to access the battery... I left the unit. My girlfriend pressed the power key two days later. A red light flashed. Immediately I started to charge the phone... At 100% all seemed fine. Inserted my aim entered my pin and all seemed fine...then sudden death again
again. Four days later... Red light blink... Booted phone with no simply. Backed up on pc. And I restored factory settings.

Removed tick from auto adjust display under brightness. And powered unit off.

Inserted my aim. Booted all working.

Hope the quick steps help to understand, patience can save your phone simply wait for complete drain.

This was a lnown issue with the adapted light setting which has since been removed

If you had waited long enough when you powered the phone on and got blank screen it would eventually have started up allowing you to deselect that setting again - the boot could take as long as 5 minsbut it got there eventually

This is no longer an issues with new firmwares

Hello everyone,

I have had my Xperia Z1 for 2 years now and let's just say the problems are cumulating now. I accidently dropped my phone earlier today. It only dropped 50 cm down and now the screen is completely black. The red light is still on when i charge it and the up volume bottom + restart button option isn't bringing any lights back to the phone. Is my screen completely dead? the phone still works so I know it must come from the screen. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi @Frenchy795

Connect your device to a wall charger and then press and hold power & volume up for more than 10 seconds. Let it charge for 2 to 3 hours, even if it doesn't seem to be charging. Also you can try by plugging the usb cable as you hold volume down.

If it nothing seems to solve the problem, you have to consider visiting a sony service:

If my answer was helpful for you, please thank me with Kudos.

I'm at disposal for any question.
