I pressed the power button to bring up the phone, it came up for a second and then suddenly jolted to Black screen. The screen is permanently on but its black and I cant do anything! Cannot even do the hard reset ! This is unbelievable I've had it 3 days ! HELP PLEASE !
yes, you are right, some clarifying is needed
none of the following options have changed the slow boot frequency, either they are on, of or mixed in any combination:
- adaptive brightness
- optimized backlight
- X-Reality
My model is C6903. Bug was on my phone from the beginning, previously I could avoid it by turning off BT, still there in .534 firmware and now it doesn't matter if BT is on or off anymore.
My device never overheated and battery life is excellent, even almost doubled by the last .534 update.
Hi all - This just happened to my 3 day old Z1, hanging with a black screen for about a minute - I linked it to Bluetooth being switched on as I had just paired it to my car - I deactivated Bluetooth then switched it off and back on again and it is fine. Clearly an issue with Bluetooth that needs fixing - running on 534 too so there was no fix in that update.
I have a z1 for 1 and 1/2 week now. Tonight the screen was black, no sign of live on the screen, calling myself with another phone did ring the z1 but nothing appeared on the screen. Looking on the web i found this forum. My software edition is the 534 but after reading all stories i tried first to put the z1 to energy but no lighting in the screen. So i tried the red reset button which is placed near the sim card. Also no changes. Then i tried the tip of the power button & the volume buttons and after a few seconds it was starting up again. It seems that the phone i working again.
Thanks for the tips,
HI Sony – Got the phone delivered on Tuesday – October 1st. (today is Friday the 4th). Last night after 2 days – at around 9 PM, I ended a phone call, locked the screen and put the phone down. Half an hour later, I picked up the phone and it wouldn’t boot up.
I checked these forums and after half an hour or so – after pressing the power button (with low volume button), managed to boot it up.
Today afternoon, I was replying to an SMS and the screen flickered once and died. I managed to boot up the phone again but am certainly not happy with this product.
This is just Day 3 with the phone and am not liking the manufacturing defects of such an esteemed brand.
I’ve been an ardent Sony user and a huge fan for many many years so this does leave a bad taste in the mouth.
sounds to me like you have a genuine hardware fault and would return it for replacement - these things do happen - it doesn't sound like the bugs that are being described on this thread
I 've had the screen problem 3 times in a period of 2 weeks of hard usage of the phone. I 'm on firmware .534 and the problem appeared once in opening outlook app, once in unlocking the phone and once in GO SMS Pro. The screen turns black and after reset works fine but this is very annoying. Hope we can get some info on this. I would be happy to answer any further questions.
P.S. Reading all the above i need to say that the black screens happened with adaptive lighting and optimized backlight on. I disabled both of them for now and i 'll post back if i get anything else.
Hello,
I got same issue.
Brand new Z1, today purchased. I just use the phone about 1 hour, then turn it off. After that i cant bring it on.
Wifi was ON
Auto brightness was OFF
Bluetooth was OFF
I use reset by power and volume up, then i tried red small button. But Z1 had stuck on SONY logo.
Also I updated soft by Update Service. Didnt help.
why don't you read the thread the answers are there - if you wait long enough the phone will start then you need to ...................look in the thread especially at my posts
Hy guys
So, 6 days old Z1, connected to the usb charger 1 hour ago and when I pressed the power button... nothing, black screen. Managed to power off by pressing volume key up and power button.
What happened? Well, before charging the phone, I enabled the "Adapt to lighting conditions" setting in Display / Brightness menu. Until then all OK, bluetooth off, "optimized backlight" was enabled with no issues.
So, might be the "Adapt to lighting conditions".
I'll keep you posted
I'm glad i joined this forum before purchasing a Z1 it's kinda made my mind up to stay clear of this model very disapointed:smileysad:
