low call volume when using loud speaker

Hi

I am having trouble with the call volume when using the louspeaker.

Seems to only use 1 of the 2 speakers?

I have tweaked the all the setting including the equalizer which has improved the head phone volume but had no effect on the loudspeaker.  When talking normaly the volume is ok but could also be louder

does anyone have any ideas

thanks

Really poor sound quality when making phone calls. I have a £35 generic android phone which is much louder and I can use it in the car and even in the workshop. The Sony is impossibly quiet in normal mode and if I switch to speakerphone I still have to hold it by my ear, no I'm not deaf. I have heard this can be fixed by rooting the phone, I don't really care about the Sony warranty as they have proven totally useless in resolving this issue so does anyone know if this can be done.

Hi Sony, it's been months since this topic was raised. I've recently gotten the Z3 (full-size, not compact). As others have reported, the volume on speakers great for music and videos but during calls is barely louder than having speakerphone off. This is surely a major design flaw for a flagship product that's meant to be used for business/calls. I'm completely unable to use it as a speakerphone as it's muffled and inaudible. When and how are you planning to resolve this issue?

Hi. i have xperia z3 compact. had problems like this also. People told me 2 speak louder cause they didnt hear me. I noticed that after i uncheck noise cancellation option they hear me well. I called a friend and exchanged phones during call. Indeed i could hardly hear him when he was on my phone. After i unchecked
noise cancel option i could hear him fine. My advise is 2 uncheck this option. Dont know why sony leaves it default. ps: sorry 4 my bad english:d

I just had issues with the loudspeaker not outputting sound. Restart and changing audio settings but no luck.

Finally, this fixed it for me:
- power off the phone
- Then hold power and volume up until phone vibrates 3 times
- Test again and back to normal

This has been driving me mad, it was quiet before the lollipop upgrade but now it's even quieter with the speaker activated than not. Using voicemail or dialing any kind of call centre is impossible as you have to press the numbers on the keypad.

How can I fix this?

My wife has same phone and has same problem on a different network so it is definately a phone issue.

edit: not same problem, wife's phone is audible(still quiet though), mine is not. Additionally if I gently twist the phone the speaker gets louder then goes off altogether, seems like a loose connection somewhere.

I bought two sony z3's May 3 2015 and both are currently experiencing the really low speakerphone volume when on a call.  The speakers are terrific when not on a call but sound only comes out of the bottom speaker while on a call and definitely not as loud.  I have tried every configuration with the audio settings and nothing seemed to have improve the audio quality and volume.  Also, if I disable the speakerphone voice enhancement option, the volume is even less.  With the speakerphone voice enhancement enabled, the clarity gets worse.  There is a lot of hiss and background noise become more evident.  Not sure what else to do to increase the volume of the speakerphone during a call.  Cannot even hear the caller when going down the road in a car.

Things I have tried:

*Enabling clearaudio + makes the speakerphone volume worse

*Going into the sound effects option and setting a user-defined setting of boosting all frequences to their max helps but not very much (best option so far)

*Ensure surround sound (vpt) is off

*Enable s-force front surround along with boosting the equalizer seems to help improve volume.

*Going into call settings and enable speaker voice enhancement provide a good solution in use with s-force and equalizer boost but makes the call sound like your listening to the caller through a very long and narrow tin can (like they are very very far away).  The volume doesn't increase much but like I stated earlier, all the other background noises from the caller is enhanced, not the actual voice of the caller.  So much that the background noise almost cancels out the voice of the caller.

Hopes this helps everyone until sony increases the volume of speakphone calls.  I see this being an overall issue with all z3's since both phone have the same exact problem.
