Hi,
I have a brand new Sony Xperia Z5 Compact,
when I make/receive calls, the person at the other end has an echo from my phone.
THIS is not the case using a bluetooth device to make the calls with.
Please advice what to do ?
Infomation about the phone :
Modelnumber : E5823
Android version : 5.1.1
Kernelsystem : 3.10.49-perf-g83fc9bc
Versionnumber : 32.0.A.6.152
Best regards
Jan
Could it be a problem with the Audio enhancements available to the Z5? Have the devs already told us that it's definitely not these things:
Audio settings: Equalizer, surround sound, S-Force, in the call settings: the hearing aid compatibility, slow talk.... the equaliser in there.. then there could be the noise cancelling headphones if you use those... if the mic was on the same channel you get that gargling sound like you're in a fishbowl.
Does the fault occur when it's on speaker during a call? or only just using the handset, or what about headphones/BT handsfree?
Try doing a normal sound recording with a voice recorder, and then play it back to see how that sounds.
I have the same problem. Audio recording is working fine by the way.
It seems that the firmware update 32.0.A.6.200 does not fix this issue. Some more information:
Today the issue occurred again multiple times with 32.0.A.6.200. One caller said that when he
heard the echo, he also heard even my foot steps. So, it seems that for some reason, the
microphone sensitivity is way way up when a phone call is initiated. The echo seems to disappear
after some random amount of time during the call (at least most of the time).
Personally, I'm feeling quite frustrated, since I just received my phone back from a service center
and all they did was reflash the same firmware version (32.0.A.6.152) which I had already flashed
myself prior to sending it to the service center. Obviously, the issue appeared immediately again
when I made my first call after having picked up the phone again, so they never even tested it...
Is it really loud? Like a feedback loop? If it's a faint one, it's probably why I haven't noticed on mine, because I'm probably partially deaf from all the loud music I play
I'm having a lot of echo with Whatsapp VoIP calls (not with Hangouts VoIP calls), but that could be a problem on my girlfriend's Moto G 2013 and not my Z5 Compact.
In my experience, when you hear yourself in a VoIP call, the problem is in the other terminal which is failing to cancel the incoming voice, so it's sent back.
Thanks for your anwsers, NeoBeum, but I think the issue in question is that the other party in a phone call hears the echo of her/his own voice for about 30-40 secs. (not you, the Z5C user, even that such echo is undoubtedly caused by the sony device).
Anyway, as posted by another user, it is sad to see that the new firmware does not seem to fix the problem.
Best regards.
Another detail for my device: The problem only occurs when I start the call. There's no problem when I receive a call.
It seems that this is plausible (not sure though) for my device also. Regarding
received calls, the microphone sensitivity might also still be a bit too high (or
it might also be a noise cancellation issue), since I get some complaints about
noises in the background which should not really be audible to the caller. But
that is a somewhat minor issue compared to the echo problem.
