My Xperia Alert & Location not working - UK

I've tried using the find my xperia and alert request on a number of occaisions and found it to either not work or take in my opinion far too long to activate. Considering this is supposed to be a useful security feature this is not really acceptable in my opinion.

As I post this I sent a find my xperia and alert request over 30 minutes ago and still not recieved either, despite looking right now at my phone and seeing good wifi and mobile signals and power is nearly full. Xperia cannot seem to locate my phone (told me so!)

Any advice on this issue having a fix or workaround?

Have you installed any task manager/killer in your phone? If so, try removing it and restart the phone.

If that's not the cause, can you locate the phone using this service?

No I don't have any app process killing, only standard AV and cache cleaning ... however clicking on the link directed me to the problem.

It appears that the device location access was switched off for some reason, turned this on and refreshed the find my xperia and sound notice and they worked.

Many thanks for your help in resolving this, however it does raise the question as to why it was turned off ... will check to see if any settings/apps do this, doubt the latter, suspect the former Slightly_smiling_Face

Glad to hear that it works now Slightly_smiling_Face

Hello and sorry to bump an old thread. I have the same problem as the OP except that the my xperia website is unable to locate my pohone at all. I have AVG installed (but have just removed this - still not working) but nothing else that should be too problematic. I have used the link that you posted above and this does locate my phone (so looks like I can at least partially use the service).

Any ideas for fixing this??

Thanks for your help - Huw

That sounds a bit strange. Have you tried to disable and enable My Xperia in the phone? Are you using the Gmail address shown under Settings -> Security -> my Xperia on our webpage?

Hi, thanks for responding.

Yes, I have tried turning on and off with no luck and I only have one gmail account so yes, the details are the same. Is there any way I can double check what account the phone is logging in to?

You can see which account that is used under Settings -> Security -> my Xperia in the phone.

But you have a Z1 Compact? If you have a Z2 you should use your Sony account instead of Gmail.
