Magnetic Charging Vs Micro-USB charging

Hi all,  I've currently got the Xperia Z and love it but looking to upgrade to the Z3  Grinning_Face

Had a quick google and search on forums but I can't find the answer.

With the Z3 which is quicker to charge by, the Micro-USB port, or the Magnetic Charger port?

Assuming they are both off a wall not a computer, and so would be at 2.1 A not 1 A.

Also anyone with a Z3, what's the rough charging times you tend to see?

Cheers!

From my experience, both ways charge nearly at the same rate.

Some people report slower charging via magnetic connector, but it seems this was due to oxidation/dirt/scratches on either the magnetic charger of port on the phone.

For myself I prefer magnetic dock charging, works great with daydream applications like Timely, so I have a virtual clock alarm beside my bed while sleeping. And of course you don't have to open the flap cover to access the micro-USB port.

Hi,

Just like Quester said and as I experience this, there's no noticable difference in charging time using micro USB or charging dock. Mostly I use the charging dock for my Z3 and the charging time is around 3-3½ hours.

Thanks for the replies!

I was hoping that was the case rather than the magnetic being slower, since I plan on using magnetic more so I don't have to open the flaps as much, since it's a right faff on my XZ to the extent that the rubber seal has become damaged (half fallen off) and so doesn't close!!

The faster way to charge the phone is

Phone off + Wall charger

Phone on + Wall charger (ariplane mode)

Phone on + Wall charger

Phone off + computer (this will vary depending on the output of the usb port)

Phone on + computer (this will vary depending on the output of the usb port) ariplane mode

Phone on + computer (this will vary depending on the output of the usb port)

Phone off + magnetic charger

Phone on + magnetic charger (airplane mode)

Phone on + magnetic charger

Surely the magnetic charger is a USB (male) to magnetic, and so could be done from the wall charger (with USB Female) and so would be up at the same sort of charge times as the Wall charger, and not below that of using a computer, which has an output of 0.5 - 1 A, compared to using my USB charger which is between 1 - 2.1 A output.

can I use 2 adapter charging together to charge a phone? one charging in micro-USB port, another charging in magnetic charging port.

Or can I charging my phone using magnetic charging port when i transfering file to PC using USB cable?

I've not tried using both, but I don't think this would work and could potentially overheat your phone, I wouldn't risk it!

My DK 45 magnetic charging dock with Aukey QC 2.0 work great with my Z3 SO-01G.
Charging rate always be at 1.4 Amp untill close to 95-97% the drop to 500 to 700 mAmp untill full, the same rate as USB charging (using ampare app).  Unfortunately, I don't have USB volt and ampare meter, yet.  But it on the way, until the I will be back to report it.
