Auto rotate not working (Sony Xperia z5 Premium)

Didn't think I would be back so fast, but I have another issue that suddenly started happening.

Checking to see if anyone else has this issue, or if there's a fix,or even if it's a known problem.

My auto-rotate stopped working. Was working fine the last 24 hours, give or take. Which is the duration of how long I've had the device.

I checked all the settings, and googled around, so I restarted my phone, now it works again.

Didn't know about the diagnostic tool until after I rebooted the device and it started working again.

If it stops working, I'll definitely run diagnostics.

But until then; known issue? Anyone else experience the same thing? A permanent fix?

Same problem here with my Z5 compact. Been bugging me for a while, will try some of the suggested remedies. When is Android 6.0 due?

The update to Android 6.0 is planned to be released before the end of this quarter.

With adaptive brightness/contrast, do you mean what's discussed in this this thread? This is also fixed in the 6.0 update.

The the rotation work without the GPS running if you restart to safe mode?

Hi, Yes that's the adaptive brightness issue I was referring to thanks! Strangely, auto rotate doesn't work at all in safe mode, even with GPS on or at all in Google Maps/nav. The GPS app I use is "GPS Status and Toolbox" by MobiWIA. Since that app is disabled in Safe Mode, it looks like that was what was allowing the sensors to work. I'm not sure. BTW I've been trying the restart workaround and it's never worked. Good news on 6.0 at the end of Q1.

Thank you Rickard for reply..So you are saying that this is a Software issue not hardware?

I'll wait until March 7th... that's the date that sony pretend to release Marshmallow to Z5, Z4 Tablet and Z3+.

So if is a software issue than ill have to wait..

I was thinking it was a hardware issue since when auto rotate stops, both Gyroscope and Accelerometer fails.

It's a software issue offcourse, as in most cases here.

Rickard when u say "The update to Android 6.0 is planned to be released before the end of this quarter" , are u pershaps saying that we, on our flagship Sony, are receiving MM in April ? :S OMG !!!

I think it's a timing too large to provide us the latest FW :S

I'm afraid i can't say for sure if what you are seeing is software or hardware related. What you are describing is a bit different from what i've seen in other cases where a restart helps.

If possible, i recommend that you wait for the Android 6.0 update as it will have a fix for auto rotation that sometimes stops working and see if that helps. But if it should still remain after the new update i think you need to contact a service centre or your Local support for further investigation of your unit.

From what you are describing in your previous posts, the software update should help.

I don't have any date for when the update will be released and software rollouts are a phased process – timing and availability will vary by market and/or operator. The rollout is planned to start before the end of this quarter though (before end of March).

Hello... This is the first time have ever commented on a forum. I have just bought this phone ( Xperia z5 compact). I have had it since Wednesday. Just been learning it all after having an iPhone4. I bought this because of the camera. ( we have a small toddler) today has been my day off work so we have been taking photos and what's apping them to family. Bur I have been ripping my hair out with the hassle of the no rotating of my screen. I have powered off after reading the posts and it has not worked. What on earth is going on and how do I fix it.? Please help me!

Another 24hrs and it is still not working. I don' t know whether u should just return this phone. It is clearly damaged in some way. I did the tests and it failed on 5 things.
Ant help or advice is greatly appreciated cause I don't know what to do for the best.
