When you click the app switcher, are the previews present? Or is missing previews still an issue when running 4K?

Hi everyone,

This sounds great. I would love to try a 2k resolution. I assume everything will be sharper minus the bugs. What values should I put in?

Cheers!

I tried the dialer you recommended and no luck.  It crashes just like the normal one.  I have tried others and they crash as well.

I may have to revert back to 1080 becuase I need the dialer app to work.

If anyone has any suggestions please share them.

@DC74

It's unfortunate it doesn't work for you. Worked for me when I set 807 dpi, disabled the stock dialer, removed all permissions for it and granted the dialer from link all permissions and set it as default phone.

@LogicAnalyzer
You are right, no preview when switching tabs, only black windows. I switched to 4k from day one so didn't even know about that preview function Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

Thanks @FatCash

This is now the last issue keeping me from switching to 4K all the time. How's your battery life? Screen on timw? Thanks.

Does doing this "really" make the screen look that much different? I have my doubts.

OK, I have tried for 2 days now to find a dialer replacement that will work. I have had varying success but nothing that actually works for both incoming and outgoing calls.

A handful off apps would work for outgoing calls, but in order to do that I had to replace the default dialer to the 3rd party one and when I do that, all incoming calls ring once and then go to voice mail.

The main issue as I see it is the "in call" screen. This is the screen that can not be rendered at 4k and therefore crashes. Most 3rd party dialers are simply a different interface with which to select your call but once you click "call" the phone executes the call using the standard "in call" screen and you get the crash.

I have found a few dialer replacements with their own "in call" screens and they work for outgoing calls, but i can not get the phone to let the 3rd party dialer app take the incoming call, so it's only half the solution.

I am going to keep searching and trying combinations of things and will update the thread as I know more, but it's starting to look bleak. I need someone to build a 4k dialer. I will pay good money if it actually works.

update....

@FatCash

Ok, I tried everything again, using the dialer you recommended, and revoked all permissins from the stock dialer, and did a force stop on it and it works.  I do not hvae the option to disable the stock dialer, but I did force stop it.  My guess is it will start back up again maybe on a reboot and then I will force stop it again.

Also, I think the 807 was part of the solution for whatever reason.

thanks again!

Update #2....

I had to change the density as with 807 my settings app kept crashing.  I just used the UI on the phone, under display, display size and took it down one rung.  I set the density to 807 with adb, then went in the UI and dropped it one notch.  Everything works perfectly now.

just a heads-up, some years ago I was having some problems when trying to dial an emergency number (112) when using a third party dialer (the phone would ask me which dialer to use to call that specific number and it took me a while to realize that I had to choose the default one, otherwise it wouldn't call). keep that in mind when modding and don't put a gimmick above your safety.

In my opinion yes.  It makes everythign sharper and crisper. Plus you can use the UI under display, display size after the mod and change the density to your liking (may need to test diffent settings as some aps may not like every settign).  I originally set my to 807, but the settings app crashed at that setting so I changed it via the UI on the phone itself and now it's perfect.  I don't like giant icons and giant text on my phone, makes it look like a phisher price phone (fake phone for babies).  With these new settigs its elegnt, sharp, and crisp.
