Z3 Lollipop update breaks Mirrorlink

Hi,

Since updating from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2, mirror link has stopped working with my Pioneer headunit. Is the Z3 still certified with 5.0.2 update?

It worked perfectly with 4.4.4. I have a Pioneer AVH-X2700BS unit (certified with mirrorlink 1.1).

My head unit keeps telling me to reset the smart device setting.

I actually got an update from our developers regarding this today. They have been in contact with Pioneer regarding this issue and Pioneer have admitted that they are not within the specifications. I hope to get more information regarding this and a fix from Pioneer.

I also got information that if you have unlocked the phones bootloader, MirrorLink will stop working as the security keys are needed for it.

Can I just say that is some excellent service. I am the long time owner of the htc m8. And even though it's listed as mirrorlink compatible. My experience with mirrorlink has know many many problems. Which seem to be completly unaknowledged by HTC. I'm to buy a sony now, and I will see how it goes:). The signs thus far seem more promising:)

What I don't really understand though is why the mirrorlink is supposed to stop working when you unock the bootloader. This wasn't the case on my m8 and I don't really understand why security keys are required for the mirrorlink protocol.

I'm very glad to hear that Slightly_smiling_Face

I will let you know as soon as we have more information from Pioneer as they are looking into this issue.

But i'm afraid i don't have the technical background for why MirrorLink needs the security keys though. But they are used for different content protection systems like HDCP for Miracast so there may be a similar function for MirrorLink.

Hi Rickard,

Thanks for the update. That's a bit strange that Pioneer are at fault, considering that there are other Z3 users on here reporting similar issues with other brands of headunits. Anyway, hope to see this resolved soon.

Thanks

We have tested this with other devices as well like Sony XAV-612BT mentioned earlier as not working in this thread but here we can't replicate any issue. This is why i mentioned that unlocking the phones bootloader will also stop Mirrorlink from working as that may perhaps be the cause for some users seeing issues with other devices.

But the issue with Pioneer needs a fix from Pioneer and i believe this issue may also affect other brands and not just our products (at least from what i've been able to find in other forums).

OK thanks for the reply. I know UB loader stops from working, so thats fair enough.

I'll wait to hear back, hopefully can be resolved soon. I held off on unlocking mine, assumed this would effect it.

Have a Xperia Z2 updated with 5.0.2 with pioneer avh4700 and have the reset smart device message. I think pioneer and sony should come with a fix for this cause its frustating to us the customers. Hope Rikard from sony xperia support can help us with this.

Z3 (lollipop) does not even connect with their own headunit XAV-601BT, Z1 (lollipop) works
