Xperia Pro MK16i stuck in boot-loop (showing Xperia logo only)

I owned an Xperia Pro bought on Feb 2012, and running ICS updated by PC Companion.

It keeps restarting/rebooting (symptom very similar to http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/51181) after turning on bluetooth today, showing repeatedly only the Sony logo and the animated Xperia screen.

This phone has NOT been rooted, NOR unlocked the boot loader.  It is using the latest firmware available in my region as of today (4.1.B.0.587).

I tried starting the phone with/without the SIM card and/or SD card with/without USB cable but NONE of the combinations helps...

It was set to Mass Storage Mode, so it could NOT be connected to PC Companion for software update.

I am wondering if it is still possible to rescue the data inside (contacts, SMS, etc.), by for example, flashing newer firmware from uliwooly, or send to Sony for recovering.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Here's the ADB log when booting until it restarts automatically and re-enters the boot-loop:

I am having similar problem since 2 days.

I tried to reboot the phone using `adb reboot` from my laptop. This usually works. But since then my phone is not booting. It keeps switching between sony & xperia logo.

Since it has not booted, PC companion is not recognizing it.

I also installed update service on my PC, but it is not listing Xperia Pro (MK16i). It is however, listing other devices like Xperia X10, mini pro etc.

I am bit reluctant to try custom/hacked roms or rom-loaders from xda-developer or similar forums.

EDIT:

PC companion could detect it after I followed instructions from this link.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-pro-Xperia-neo-V-Xperia/Stuck-at-XPERIA-on-boot/m-p/164759#M124...

My issue is resolved. Thanks to forum.

Hello

I too have the boot loop problem.I tried to follow the steps u mention in a thread.
But the PCC is instructing me to like "DRAG THE NOTIFICATION BAR,SELECT ACCESS TO PHONE-SELECT ACCESS TO SD CARD" like that.

I cant even SWITCH ON the phone.then how can I select the options.

please tell me how you have repaired the OS?

Thanks in advance!!!

Yes, it's made un-necessarily complicated in PC companion.

Click Support zone (Start) -> Phone/tablet s/w update (start) -> repair my phone tablet. -> Follow on-screen instructions.

Off course, for some points, you will need to make a judgement call, e.g. "battery charging status > 50%"...

I too had struggled about it for about a day, trying suggestions from all different forums. This method worked in the end.

Good luck!
