Warning - ICS Update Broke Hotspot and USB Tether

ST18a updated this afternoon to the second release of ICS (was using first release previous to this).

USB Tethering and Wi-Fi Hotspot are no longer working.  I can connect and get an IP address but no internet access.

This is real bad since this is a primary use for my phone.

UPDATE: Confirmed same behavior with a second laptop ... I can connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone but no internet access.

UPDATE: iPad via Wi-Fi Hotspot, same thing, gets IP address but no internet access.

For the french users who are on FREE, In found an APN configuration which seems to be working (tested on 2 mobiles):

First APN (this one is checked) :

Nom : Free

APN : Free

MMSC : http://mms.free.fr

MCC : 208

MNC: 15

Type d'APN : default,supl,mms

Protocole d'APN : IPv4

(the other fields are non-defined)

Second APN :

Nom : Free MMS

APN : mmsfree

MMSC : http://mms.free.fr

MCC : 208

MNC: 15

Type d'APN : mms

Protocole d'APN : IPv4

(the other fields are non-defined)

And there is a third APN, which its name beginning with "nrj". We cannot delete it, so I put the same values than the first except for the protocol which is non-defined.

It seems that some APN configuration would work for some provider here and there, (any APN configuration for Orange France?) Though it is such a widespread problem that a bug in ICS is the only logical explaination.  It was so easy in the former android 2! We can only wait for a patch.

I'm French user on FREE and I've already tried this setup since 3 weeks. With ICS on my MT15i (xperia Kyno), it did'nt worked.

I'm waiting for an update from Sony !!!

I have the same problems as well:

Model: Xperia Ray - ST18a - 1252-4844

Carrier: Rogers (Canada)

Current build: 4.1.B.0.431

It was able to work (tether) on Gingerbread - but not on ICS 4.0.4

I chated this morning to the Sony support France. A patch  to fix the problemsof ICS should be available in the begining of august. That s to say before the 15. Let us hope it is true!

Found this thread to describe the exact same problem (symptoms :smileyhappy:) as I have...

LT18a, 4.0.4., 4.1.B.0.431

Worked flawlessly before ICS. Do get IP from DHCP, but all traffic times out...

Added: Unlocked, own phone, using with AT&T US SIM

I am facing the same usb/wifi tethering issue with Xperia mini pro (sk17i) after ICS update which was running fine on GB. My service provider is BSNL Mobile (India). Do u hv any solution for it??

Under Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, to my surprise I found a T-Mobile entry added that I could not select nor delete, only edit.

After editing and saving to AT&T LTE settings (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770813&highlight=att), whenever I go back into the APN menu, I get a "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped", and I cannot change (back) anymore !!!!

However, at a first glance, it seems to have fixed (Wi-Fi) tethering ?!

So my problem has shifted... Suggestions, please?

I have an arc LT15i, after updating to 4.0.4  i have 3d problems, all my games are lagging and benchmark programs always stop when they reach 3d part, any help?
