Warning - ICS Update Broke Hotspot and USB Tether

ST18a updated this afternoon to the second release of ICS (was using first release previous to this).

USB Tethering and Wi-Fi Hotspot are no longer working.  I can connect and get an IP address but no internet access.

This is real bad since this is a primary use for my phone.

UPDATE: Confirmed same behavior with a second laptop ... I can connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone but no internet access.

UPDATE: iPad via Wi-Fi Hotspot, same thing, gets IP address but no internet access.

Just curious if you had heard any updates about the patch fix and when/if it has been released. I know you're in France but at least it would give me some hope here in the US. Thanks.

Anyone tried the latest Xperia software update? (4.1.B.0.587 d.d. August 2012)

David, where did you see that? I checked this afternoon and the only thing I got was an update on the Sony Companion program, and it still showed that my phone had the latest software release.

Same here. I updated my Ray to .587 fw last friday and the hotspot and usb tethering is not working yet.

It's official, Sony does not care about its customers...

I can´t believe that having a lot of people from around the world complaining about the same bug, this people don't answer back to our needs.

Dear Sony, i'm not asking for JB or whatever crazy stuff people usually ask... I just want to use the features that got me to buy this device... now you are just a company offering features that are not able to provide, sad thing for a company like Sony.

Update to 4.1.B.0.587 via PC Companion (unlocked phone) fixed the APN issue for me, and tethering seems to work again (for me).

I've got 2 APNs

1) wap.cingular (selected)

2) pta (cannot be selected, was T-Mobile somehow)

In summary: check if your APN settings are not causing the tethering to fail...

Arc S (LT18a) unbranded/unlocked on AT&T US.

Am I the only one not seeing an update when I connect my phone to the PC Companion... Anyone else using a Mini Pro SK17a get the newest update in PC Companion?

Tethering STILL does not work. I am 1000% sure it is NOT a carrier problem. When I plug the sim onto Galaxy S2 everything works great. Same APN and all. Also, FoxFi, which is a nice app for bypassing carrier imposed limitation crash about 1.30 minutes into activation as it is unable to start tethering.
