Touch screen problem

My Z2 touch screen just isnt consistent. Sometimes registers taps when I swipe or just does nothing - occasionally it just opens whatever is under my finger when I am definately swiping. The most obvious is when unlocking my phone using a PIN. The phone just registers double or triple  taps when I jhave only tapped once. I returned my original for a replacement (thanks Argos) but it has exactly the same issue. Sony is there a dodgy batch which you are not owning up to as it definately seems like a hardware issue - the digitizer seems to be constantly guessing whether I have swiped or tapped or double and only getting it right about 90% of the time. It highlights links in web pages and icons on the home screen when I am swiping and then in some cases decides I have tapped.

Previous to this I had a Z1 and never had even a hint of this problem.

Also the screen is really jerky - when swiping in the facebook app for example it judders all the time - sticking on photos, same in firefox browser. chrome is better.

Hi HarryBadger,

It might be worth turning off your screen and giving it a little clean, then test it out. If there is still a problem then try running a Software Repair on your phone. 

Running the software repair

Download the PC Companion software and install it on your PC.

Note: All user data will be deleted.

To back up your phone using PC Companion 
1. Go to Support  to install PC Companion on a Windows computer. 
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer. 
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable. 
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore. 
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Now you can begin the repair. Please ensure your phone is powered off and not connected to the PC when you begin this process. You are not required to connect the phone until after step 10.

1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.

2. Phone Software Update.

3. Start.

4. Repair Phone

5. Continue

6. Accept data removal

7. Next

8. Wait for prepare

9. Select Phone

10. Follow the connection steps
