Hello,
After having done many search on forums, I didn't find anything to help me. So, here is a new post...
I have a new Z1 compact running Android 4.4.4 (build 14.4.A.0.157) .
I unlocked the bootloader following the offical procedure provided by SONY.
I've rooted it.
Everything works properly, excepted GPS.
The GPS "sees" satellites (sometimes more than 20), but never fix them (even after hours).
[see attached picture]
Has anybody a good idea ?
Thanks in advance for your help .
Was the GPS working before you unlocked the bootloader?
I don't know because I did unlock the bootloader quite immediately
Is it software or hardware related ?
The GPS locates satellites quite well (less than 2 seconds) but does not fix them.
I've checked with another GPS close to my smartphone: all satellites are identical, but the other GPS fix them !
I have done the same as you have and have no issues with GPS however reading other forums it can be due to your country and the amount of people using GPS at any one time
Maybe, but considering that another GPS just besides my smartphone has no problem, I don't think it's a matter of people using GPS at the same time.
Then you probably have different GPS config files - Maybe look into changing gps.conf file but I think you need Root for that or try apps like GPS fix
I did already modify /etc/gps.conf file.
What I do not understand is: why is GPS "viewing" the satellites without being able to fix them.
When checking the screenshot from GPS status, mentionning that 16 satellites are there but none fixed, I was wondering why the bar chart shows so little bars.
Is this related to a poor reception of GPS signal ? Is there a threshold somewhere telling Android to when to fix satellites?
Try a free Sat-Nav type app or MyXperia which should then allow a fix - or it could be that you are indoors
Have tried Google Maps, Copilot, ... --> no fix.
Have tried to fix satellites using service menu (*#*#7378423#*#*) --> no fix
Have now tried to re-install KitKat by using Emma --> no more root, no satellites fixed (tested outdoor).
Have tried on the same location, at the same time with Samsung Galaxy S4 --> GPS fixed in about 1 s
