Sony Experia E Date Validation Problem

I have bought one Sony Xperia E.  I have downloaded the apps of HDFC securities online trade. However the  login for the apps require my dateof birth which is 18/06/1972. I have tried but the mobile is not allowing beyond 1980. I am unable to use the online mobile trade facility. Please held and advice

If i understand you correctly you are trying to set the phones date to the date of your birth? You will not be able to set the phones date to a year earlier then 1980.

It does however seem strange that you are supposed to change the phones date for an apps login. You should probably enter your date of birth in that app. If the app is not accepting earlier dates then 1980 you will need to contact the developer of this app.

I have the same problem, it's not depending on apps, but on the system calendar component (DatePicker).

The year is set to 1980 as minimum!!!

We are not trying to change phone system date, but just to enter a date before 1980 in an app!!!

This happens in every third party app, or system apps like calendar, browser and so on.

Samples

1) if you'd like to add an event to calendar: you can't set it before 1980

2) web form in a browser that requires birthday date: you can't set it before 1980, while with other phones yes

3) Android app made by myself that calls DatePicker : you can't set it before 1980

It's frustrating you can set you're right birthday date using this phone!!!!

I've also tried on a Sony Xperia Typo where this limit doesn't exist!!

This is a serious problem which sony seems to ignore ...date can not be set in ANY date selecting app at all.

Sort it out sony !!!

Or lose me and all my friends as customers...we await your answer for these awful no further back than 1980 date problem

If you enter 1964 for example it will not work as the phone can only see back to guess what 1980!!!...

This 1980 DoB problem is a problem with the Post Office Travel Money Card app. They are saying it's a problem with the device, whereas your saying it's a problem with the app. I'am amazed that a well regarded company such as Sony are not liaising with app developers to try to prevent this kind of issue, the DoB system you have on your website allows people to go back decades. It has put me off getting another Sony Xperia. Please sort it out.
