problem with ear speaker on my xperia Z

hi,

i got my xperia z during the month of march 2013.

i started experiencing problems with my ear speaker during the past 10 days.

it has never before given me any cause for worry so i thought maybe there was some problem in handling the phone from my side. i put it inside a jar of rice thinking whether sweat might have seeped in accidentally.

even after that, i still faced problems with it at random times when i was taking calls [when i tried xperia diagnostics it passed a few times and failed a few times].

i took it to the service centre closest to my location at bangalore, india. they said if this was a major problem then my phone would be replaced and i would get a new handset.

they did offer me a new handset yesterday [it was handed to me in a white box with nothing to protect it from scratches] , which never recognized the sim card from my original phone and this piece had scratches all over it.
when i asked about the scratches, the service representative said that i was lucky to have so few scratches i could only iagine what the other phones she mentioned looked like Worried_Face

i spoke to the supervisor as well about this new "replacement phone" that was given to me, he immediately got a work order ready and took back the phone.

i told him that i was unhappy and scared that my newly "replaced" phone wouldnt have the water resistance feature due to such bad conditions of the phone and asked him whether he could sprinkle some water over the phone just to prove its water resistance, he flew into a fury and started telling me how its not "waterproof" and etc...

well i think the motto "make, believe" just went into the drain when their own employees dont believe in their products

lets just hope my sad story becomes a happy one when the next phone they give me is atleast in a decent conditon Face_with_rolling_Eyes which i believe would never happen

Thank you SONY for after all the products i have bought from your company i am given such a headache and emotional stress.

is there any way that i could be given my original phone back if i post my IMEI number?

i could keep that original phone in mint condition at home and maybe go for any of the phone from the galaxy S series

Regards

Dhruv

It was serviced through T-Com, as it was bought on contract and then they send it to official Sony service - Agram service http://www.agramservis.hr/

I bought this phone to support Sony regarding Samsung and Apple battle. I use it personaly and comercially for my own business. I was really loving it but the internal speaker phone started to malfunction after only 3 months of use. I sent it to service and got back working fine. Now it's been 6 months and it failed again.

I tried a trick mentionned by KK here : (/t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/Xperia-Z-speaker-not-working/td-p/561991/page/2)  and it worked.

At first I was doing it with Walkman app but it does'nt work. I had to use another media player like EasyVoice Recorder, play a file with headphones, unplug the headphone while playing, resuming the paused song. The speaker was then working again. I also downloaded the SoundAbout app and will test it next time it happens.

I really wanted to like this phone, but Sony is not trying to help us.

I will defintely put this into account when contract is over.

Hello

Same problem. I send it back to shop where I bought it, and they told me that they discovered water so It my fault, and that is very hard to replace earphone jack, since that can cause additional problem.

I have experienced the problem with the ear speaker as described. It has been sent back to the service three times  (in one month) with the same issue! It is completely RIDICULOUS! The service in Ireland - FonFix every time just sends a note that they have replaced the hardware component and updated the software. Let's see if after the same repair for the third time it will last longer than a week! It is really ANNOYING! I believe that something is deeply wrong here I feel deeply dissapointed with the phone and the way it is handled by the service (rather than giving me replacement they repair it every 2 weeks even though with the third time I made explicit note that this is far TOO MUCH)  I am not sure whether I will waste my nerves and money with Sony ever again!

It's a bad connection at the speaker. Gently pressing or tapping on or near the speaker gets it to work for a short while.

Great to see so much Sony support on an official Sony support site... /sarcasm...

I gotta be honest as well.  Just on here searching for why my Z3 is having the same ear speaker problems as the one I already exchanged and I come across this.  My last phone, Samsung Galaxy, lasted 4 years.  This is the second Z3 I've had in the past couple months and gotta say this is the WORST phone I ever owned.  I am very diasppointed.  I wanted so much to like this phone, but if I can't make a phone call than why bother?  I've exchanged it.  I removed all the apps.  I just did another factory reboot and the same thing...crackling when I make a phone call.  It's starting to give my ear problems now.  Sony, will you buy back my phone because I'm still having to make payments on a phone that's about to go into the garbage.
