i have a new phone (well a few weeks old now),i have folder on my 32gb sd card for videos and photos,i was recording a video of my children the other day and in the middle of recording m,y phone alerted me saying it is 75% full and i must transfer to sd card,i went ahead with it and it said it cant,i must look for transffered items?!?!
i didnt bother with it and hooked it up to the laptop and did it that way.
this morning my satnav said its going to start charging every month,so i remved it ans installed another free one,it couldnt download any maps because it said my phone was full and needed room,i looked into it and found there was nearly 7gb of free space.
it then gave me the option to install on sd card, but it popped up saying there is no sd card and couldnt transfer.
oddly enough my wife has the same phone as we both took the same contract out.
both phones having the same issues with transferring to sd.what is the problem and how can i sort it out?
I suggest you try to reformat the SD,if that does not help,I think it could be faulty.
can the phone reformat the card for me?
Settings-storage-erase SD card.
will that erase all my music and photos already on the card?
Yes,back them up.
ok thanks i will copy them to the laptop now.
if the card is working on the laptop, does that mean the card is functional and not faulty?
Thank you for that, its working now, the camera now saves to sd card and the phone has managed to transfer data to sd card.
all i need to know now is how do i install apps to sd card like i could on my old xperia S ?
You cannot by default, unfortunately. The option was removed by Google. You have to root.
So let me understand what's happening here.
I bought my Xperia Z in April 2013 with a 64 GB micro SD card and was able to use the 'Transfer to SD Card' facility no problem for more than 1 year then suddenly with the release of kitkat everything is broken?
Is my understanding correct??
Camera no longer able to store pictures direct to the SD card, is that correct?
MediaGo no longer able to transfer music to the SD card, is that correct?
I can't transfer files to and from the SD card using Windows flie explorer with my phone connected via usb cable, is that correct?
I can still play music on my phone that is on the SD card so i can assume that the card is still functioning properly, I just cannot transfer to and from it any longer even if i use an external card reader. Is that allowed? Basically blocking me from using my own SD card????
