Performance problems with Xperia U ICS update

I am facing problems with my phone. The processor is busy most of the time unless I free it up with Advanced Task Killer. At times,I cannot even answer calls as the phone is busy and the Answer/Reject options take time to appear on the screen.:smileyangry:

Apps and games that worked faster onGingerbread 2.3 became very slow after I upgraded it to 4.0.

Is there any update/tweak I can do to rectify this??? Help please:smileysad:

youpi! I'm french, and flashed the french ics version on my french phone. Anything I should know about flashing the indian rom now? Do I restore to original settings first? Downgrade to GB? Or just flash it as I did for the french firmware?

just flash it.

Guyz after reading all the problems from other SXU users after ICS update, I tried my best to bring the phone in same speed as with GB. After following some tweaks from the forum also I was not convinced. At last I did one thing

Settings -> Developer Options -> Background Process Limit

after reaching there just set the limit to 4 or less from default and its GB speed again. Try n enjoy 🙂

For dc999: the problem in your phone was slow motion when opening app's?

When i open the dialer takes one second, sometimes more, to show the call list...

My Dialer also takes time as yours, actually I used GB only for a single day so maybe I am not able to find the difference. Can you please explain the difference between GB and ICS speeds.

Hey I had the same problem and there's a couple of small changes which made a big difference:

Get rid of the Live wallpaper

Seriously this has such a drain on your processor and you'll notice the difference immediately!

Tweak Dev Options

If you go to Settings>Developer Options, scroll down to Transition Animation Scale and Window Animation Scale and change these to 0.5x it'll also make a big difference in speeds. I tried turning them off but there was something slightly off about the whole thing...

There's a couple of other things you can do to speed up various apps (I use Camera360 as it has a few more features and seems to be faster) but these two fixes should help a lot Slightly_smiling_Face

Also, I've read a lot that Task Killers use more RAM than they save; it might be worth testing for yourself!

I think the problem with time to open the dialler (and messaging in my case) is to do with how ICS manages RAM as explained here http://developer.sonymobile.com/2012/03/30/learn-about-the-technical-differences-between-gingerbread....

That's my theory. If correct the solution would be to free up more RAM.

People who a clamouring for JB which is supposedly more RAM intensive would be the first to complain if the user experience took another step backwards. (I know one xperia model with 512MB is scheduled for JB)

It’s supposed when a update come, is for better experience… but in this case, nope… sorry Sony, need to try harder, sloppy programmers, to many phone model’s.

Sony is the opposite of Apple... but better then Samsung, thank’s God!
