Overheating problems with Xperia Z2

I bought my new Sony Xperia Z2 in Bulgaria on the 27-th May. I tested the camera in 4K video and normal mode. I noticed that the phone is getting hot after making some photos and video. When I recorded a 4K video the camera switched off after only 2 minutes with massege Overheating! I saw that many others had the same problem. My question is is there a chance to fix the problem. Can I return the phone and change it with another one?

I've been using the Z2 since June 10th, and only once did I ever encounter any heating issues (to the point where the camera wouldn't work, which is what I use as a test), and that was sitting inside the air conditioned terminal at Phu Quoc airport in Vietnam.

During the summer I traveled around Southeast Asia and used the camera extensively, including 4K video-recording, and aside from some light heat, I never had any issues, and the camera never stopped due to overheating.

However, I suppose in all fairness I never record 4K for more than 5-6 minutes, and I usually close the camera app between taking pictures.

Hi sony, I just bought z2 yesterday. When using the camera for about less than a minute, it said overheat, camera will shut down. It happened again several times. Hmmm, im from the philippines where it is usually hot, how can I use the cameta if its like that? I havent even used the video.

My Sony experia z2 is getting heat up frequently
And one day o observed cracks on the back panel withoit any pressure or fall. Now the service center is not ready to take it under warranty. And I am worried that even if I get the glass repaired heating can cause the damage again.

I have reposted this from another forum thread.

Its 2015 and still no answer to overheating.

My phone overheats when taking photos, not videos. It does this in default auto mode and after only a few photos (just 2 last weekend) no bursts, no flash, just a simple outdoor snap.

Outside temperature at the time was a pleasant 27 degrees C.

Phone is less than 12 months old and has latest official over the air operating system 4.4.4.

I do note that if you have camera uploads to Dropbox on then the phone will always overheat, so I have, since working this out, set my uploads to WiFi only.

I routinely close all programs on exit and at the time of last overheating, there were no other programs on in the background.

I do operate the camera in a Goosperry silicon bump case to protect it and this may stop some heat dissipation.

I also note that I have so far NEVER seen this issue when using the Perfectly Clear photo app, which makes me suspicious it is a Sony Software issue.

Resolution is set to 8MP (3840x2160) with Geotagging on.

The problem occurs more often on hot day... But I live in Australia and the temperature is not extreme.

In my limited experimentation I do notice that Perfectly Clear seems to resolve the overheating issue.

This App also seems to offer many advantages over Sony default camera app (Grid lines and panorama options) and it takes nice photos too, but it is not default so I have to access via menu.

I await Android 5 software! (Not released here in Australia by Telstra) Hope that Sony has fixed the overheating issues.

I post this in hope that it helps others and maybe Sony to resolve their issues.

I also now routinely recommend Samsung to those that ask for feedback, perhaps this may change as there is so much to like about Sony. I just find too many instances of incompatabilites with standard Android apps and little niggles like the camera undermine this device.
