Between that and AT&T, I'm highly tempted to just take the phone back and start over with something else.
@ Bonzo6767 ~
where did this lag and restart comes from?
from what version to what version?
Mine is marvelous afte rteh upgrade to 2.1,
Check all your SMss and MMSs, and advertistment.. Remove these and i am pretty sure the lagging will be better.
and read this http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2367542,00.asp
It does makes a difference for those thigns i recommend.
Erm, don't know where you got that idea from, as the statements from SE is that 2.1 was the first (and last) change to the underlying Android platform. Why do you think that the rest of us are complaining?
Hmm, sounds like you might have a hardware problem - suggest contacting support if your phone is still in warranty. My X10 was laggy in places originally, but the 2.1 upgrade removed that, and the only time I see lag is with Twidroyd and I'm assuming that the problem in that case is the app. If your phone is auto-restarting as well, then it's definitely needing some service attention.
All phones get slightly warm on recharge, but if you've got one that's not "warm" but "hot", then I'd be concerned and get that off to support asap.
You should try to download a "Temperature Monitor" just to check how hot the phone gets. the hotter my X10 got was 50 Degrees (Celsius) after I've been using it for a while and charging it at the same time.
Hi,
Really quick: We have stated we typically support devices for UP TO 2 years after launch.
This obviously applies to the date of first launch in whatever country it's available in first.
The key here is "up to", if I remember correctly, you mentioned Nokia does the same thing.
Up to 2 years support is fine as most contracts are that length as well.
However i think that most people would expect that in year 1 of a top of the range Android handset like the X10 was, there would be regular and enhancing updates to the core software, including moving the phone up to the highest level of OS thats available at the end of the 12 month period. Thats what i would expect.
Clearly this is something that SE have failed with IMHO with all the delays associated with the 2.1 update.
In the 2nd year of support i think even i would accept that apart from bug fixes and a few small enhancements to the existing OS i would really not have the right to expect much more.
Were only nine months into the product life of the X10 and the announcement that there will be no more upgrades to the OS beyond 2.1 is disappointing to say the least, with most people having at least 15-18 months left on their contracts before they are eligible to upgrade their phones.
By that time Android 2.1 will be ancient in software terms. Even 2.3 will probably be old news by then. However most would be happy to think that they have had the maximum enjoyment from their devices throughout their period of ownership, with a decent level of software support.
Hey Martha, I did not said anything about Nokia, and I haven't been able to find the official sony ericsson website where it says that sony ericsson is committed to upgrade their phones from 18 to 24 months.
Hi,
My mistake! It was Bonzo6767
It did at one point states we would support phones for "up to 2 years after launch" at www.sonyericsson.com/update. This was changed some time ago.
Don't you think if for some reason Sony Ericsson changed their mind about the lifecycle, they should've made an announcement to all SE customers?
As i see it its a Pr disaster for SE, more and more users are hearing about this on other boards forums etc. They support their phones for less than a year disgusting, you wouldnt see nokia do this, i had N6680 / N95 and there phones had support for more than a year they had updates coming out after 2 years because phones were still being sold.
The xperia X10 was launched in uk on 22 March 2010, so less than a years lifecycle ( the warranty is longer than the lifecycle in EU crazy). The fact that the phone has very little internal storage available to the user to install apps and the fact that you cant save apps to SD card means the phones life is date quickly as. We need android 2.2 / 2.3 to finish this phones lifecycle. On other Android phones high end ones you got 16gb or 8gb, i have 245mb free which is pathetic, especially if i want to install games or other app, we need to be able to install apps to SD card. Also SE should patch the software to allow bigger cards than 16GB as the limited internal memory means we need to copy apps to SD cards. Also wifi hotspot would be very important as every other android phone can now do it and it comes in very handy.
GAME OVER SE you messed up your reputation pretty badly.
