I confirm the problem - my new (today delivered) Xperia J JB 4.1.2 also shows the same error when trying to use contacts :(
The update has not helped.

Hi,

I am also experiencing the same issue with my Xperia J.

ST26i

Android 4.1.2

Kernel: 3.4.0

Build: 11.2.A.0.31

Anytime I try accessing my contacts, I get the "com.sonyericsson.android.socialphonebook has stopped" error message.

I tried backup and recovery but I keep getting the process crash.

Was somebody able to fix this problem? If so, what should I do?

Thanks,

Hannes

I suggest that you clear data for Facebook and Twitter applications. Go to settings > apps > Facebook/Twitter > clear data.

Restart the phone and try again.

If you still experience problem you can try to clear data for contacts storage. Go to settings > apps > all > contacts storage > clear data. Note that you will lose all of your contacts when you do this.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have tried both options, but none of those work. Any other ideas?

In that case I would suggest you to repair the phone software using PC Companion:

http://www.sonymobile.com/update

In PC Companion, press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phones software > "Repair phone".

Hi,

Because this was suggested other users with the same problem, I have tried doing a repair with PC Companion twice. It doesn't seem to fix the issue either.

Could this be due to some kind of conflicting process running? Next to the default apps I only have SMS Backup+ and MIVB Mobile (public transport app in Belgium).

I can't stop thinking I'm not the only one with this issue persisting...

Regards,

Hannes

If you try to start your phone in safe mode you can see if the problem may be caused by some 3rd party app installed in your phone.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008#U348008

If the same problem appears in safe mode you should have the phone examined by a service center. Please contact your local support for more information:
