Horror Stories about "Self Cracking" Screens

Hi All!

I'm planning to upgrade from my Xperia P to a Z1 Compact. While reading up on the phone i came across so many posts about Cracking Screens of the Z series of phones including the Z1 Compact, which I was so interested in getting.

Durability is a MUST for me and my Xperia P served me exceptionally well in that department, with some of my mates compare it to the famed Nokia 3310! Slightly_smiling_Face  I never use cases or special screen protectors..... yet with Heat from use and gaming, 3 foot drops, accidentally sleeping on top of it over night, it still works.

My query is simple.

- Are the stories about these "Self Cracking" screens true? Is it also present in the Z3 Compact?

- Does it live up to the Sturdy Reputation which is advertized?

I don't want to buy a phone and then Spend more time Protecting it that acually using it.

Hi, if you are prone to all of the above & not wanting to add any form of protection to your phone then i really dont think the phone is for you :smileysmileywink:

Hello,

My Z1 compact was lying on the bed all afternoon. When i took it back the top part of the screen was unresponding, then i  noticed a line on the screen. Most surprising, it is not possible to feel it, like it is cracked from the inside. How that is possible ? heat up ?? i was not even using it !

Other problem, the phone is new from august, and i paid 400€ for it. Do you know if sony will take it under warrant ? i know usually screen crack are not, but the phone did not fall or get any accident, it seems like it cracked by itself.

Thanks

Hi, i'm afraid the only solution is to either get in touch with where you originally purchased it or your local Xperia Care Centre & explain the situation......good luck :smileysmileywink:

The phone can't overheat, if they get too hot the phone will shut down

Cracked screen for no reason, blamed my son at first which caused bad feelings. How do I get my phone repaired?

So my phone was having touch problems for about 2 months, so much so that I ended up enabling 'Show Touches' in developer options to see where the worst spots in the screen were/what was causing it.

The phone's screen has now cracked of its own accord and has 3 cracks emanating from the side of the phone. I did not cause these cracks.

What can I expect in terms of service from Sony? It appears these cracking problems are commonplace in other models of the Z series and there was clearly something wrong with the screen/digitizer as it was playing up significantly in the months before the crack.
