Hi All!
I'm planning to upgrade from my Xperia P to a Z1 Compact. While reading up on the phone i came across so many posts about Cracking Screens of the Z series of phones including the Z1 Compact, which I was so interested in getting.
Durability is a MUST for me and my Xperia P served me exceptionally well in that department, with some of my mates compare it to the famed Nokia 3310!
I never use cases or special screen protectors..... yet with Heat from use and gaming, 3 foot drops, accidentally sleeping on top of it over night, it still works.
My query is simple.
- Are the stories about these "Self Cracking" screens true? Is it also present in the Z3 Compact?
- Does it live up to the Sturdy Reputation which is advertized?
I don't want to buy a phone and then Spend more time Protecting it that acually using it.
oh no,, ive just got the cracked screen problem on my z1 compact.
ive always treated this phone carefully as i like it very much,,
so today,, was sending a text to my girlfriend, put the phone in my inside pocket, then within a minute felt the phone getting hot, took it out of my pocket and could see a hairline crack on the screen,, as i was trying to swipe my thumb accross the screen wondering why the phone wont respond, and at that moment thinking is that a hair or a crack while the horror and shock was setting in about my beloved phone.. more cracks appeared before my very eyes..
im gutted.
Sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
iIf you treat it with care you should be Ok i have had mine 12 month no issues
But if you want to read about phone screens cracking check out the i-phone 6 we have a family of four and all have cracked theres and the i-phone is no cheap phone
I'm an example of someone who hasn't posted here to complain, i was browsing and read this thread.
My phone sreen spontaneously cracked a month or so after I bought it (early 2014). Screen protector on, in a soft loose pocket (not a chance of denim bendgate), nothing else in the pocket, and no knocks to the phone. When I removed the phone there was a large single crack through the middle of the phone. No bangs at the edge of the casing, no crack originating from a single point (both of which can indicate accidental damage), just a huge spontaneous crack that stopped the touch screen from working.
The authorised Sony repair centre did a great job, but would not accept it as a warranty repair. It was surprisingly affordable to repair (still about 20% of the cost of the phone though!). However I still think it's a shame it broke and it wasn't my fault. At the time there were not many reports of spontaneous cracking on the web.
The advice to 'just take care' of your phone doesn't help. I believe at some point there was a design or manufacturing fault on this phone model.
Since the repair my phone has been great and the screen is in top condition.
The ASF though, sheesh, that's another post....
I Have brought sony xperia z1 compact in october 2014,
Last thrusday I have kept it in my pocket and took back after 15 minutes. I found single hair line crack on my mobile screen. I asked in service center, they are treating it as physical damage and said that it is not covered under warranty. Please find attched images of cracked screen. Provide me better solution.
Unfortunately I don't think that I can provide you with a better solution. If the service center says it's due to external damage, the repair won't be covered by warranty.
I would recommend that you send the phone in to a service center to get it repaired. It's up to them to judge if it's covered by warranty or not.
