I bought my Xperia S 1 and half a month before and from past 3 weeks i can't hear the voice from speaker phone when calls are made or viceversa. I found that even though my headphone is not inserted into the headphone jack, it is detecting that headphone pin is inserted. I can clearly see it from liveware manager on sony xperia S.
2: Even though headphone is inserted, only one earpiece is getting sound.
I showed it to near by sony service center, they told that if it is hardware problem then they will replace with other phone but not a new one. Isn't it unethical to replace my new phone with used phone. Could i get a new phone if it is a hardware problem, if not could i go to consumer court to sue Sony.
Help me guys, you know how it feels when your phone is bugged with out our mistake.
Hi,
I have these same problem, however mine started after the ICS-update the other day.
Once sooften, I get the message, freely translated from swedish,
"Microphone and buttons for the accessory is not available"
(In swedish "Mikrofon och knappar för tillbehöret är ej tillgängliga" )
Usually comes up when speaking on the phone, causing the loudspeaker to disappear... quite annoying not hearing the caller !!!
Tried to uninstall the Liveware's update and reinstalling but nothing!
Sony-team, what's up with this? Don't come with a hardware issue as I saw in some other post.
Regards
Magnus
Yes exactly the same problem.
I have the same problem too and use SUS but nothing.
If someone knows how we can shot down headphone by a software that control this item please put it hear.
Thanks
I know this might not help, just to let you know it doesn't happen to xperia s only,,
I had a similair problem on my first Xperia S, however the problem sorted itself out when i restarted the phone and took the SIM out and put it back in again, but i doubt that will have any effect in your case and presumably youve tried that too.. I havent done the current livewire update yet so maybe its that thats doing it, in which case ill wait a bit! sorry i couldnt help more..
You are lucky to get your problem resolved. I think your mobile is not on ICS. I am visiting Sony Authorized center today and i hope will get it downgraded to 2.3 and check whether the problem is resolved if not i will consider it as a hardware issue and ask them to buy me a new phone :smileycry:. I am skepticle of this issue and tried all the things i can to undo the problem.
Normally i would consider sony as making absolutely brillient phones but now when the problem comes to me, think i should change the openion to a phone manufacturer who provides me with a good service.
Sorry to hear about this.
What you can try has partially already been mentioned in some of your posts here but I will list them all to clear things up.
- Restart the phone
- LiveWare manager, check for updates for this on in Play Store.
- Connect and unplug a headset a few times to see if it can kick-start the phone again.
- Perform a Factory data reset of the phone (with ICS: Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset).
- Update the software if possible. Use PC Companion for this.
- Service (contact the local support for this: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/)

Done with all the points you mentioned and what i want to try is to downgrade the firmware and os to 2.3 . Could i perform this or should take it to service center and recommend them to do that.
Also , please post the address of sony service center in India->Chennai-> Mount road or anna salai
You need to contact the regional Sony Mobile support for this. They can give you the information you're asking for.
