GPS problem- Problem Fixed.

Recently, i found my GPS didn't work. i connect SK17i with mobile network and use google map.The best result is 1400m range.It doesn't matter how long you stay outdoor, the GPS icon always twinke and couldn't find any sattelite. But in the same position and same phone setting when i use LT18i, it found sattelite in 10 second.  Is it possible to solve this or not? Firmware problem?

Just now, i got a test for GPS.

Place tested: Open air

SIM Card: Hong Kong Local SIM card

Test period: 10 minute (3 minutes Google Map; 7 minutes in Service Test)

Result: No Satellite Fixed

I couldn’t check it for half an hour or more time as instructed as my boss needs me to work. Haha! But this result is not a surprise.

Yesterday, the stuff of service centre told me that as my phone was sold in Hong Kong, a test using Hong Kong local SIM card with data service may be successful. I perform the test as told. But now the phone test is failed. Maybe the reason is time not enough.:smileywink: So there still be something to be hoped.

Try it with wireless/mobile networks turned off, so with only satellites.

Today, i test the phone for about 30 minute. No satellite was fixed. Please help!

Sony, I will try last time!

I will send my phone back this week for third time!

I will complain CAN’T CONNECT GPS again.

I don’t want your stuff of the service center do the same thing, check the SOFTWARE and HARDWARE and TELL BOTH SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE ARE OK. Does that mean GPS OK? How ridiculous! I want they tell me GPS is OK! They should test the GPS and inform me my GPS problem settled and work fine!

Please don’t play tricks on your customer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i suggest that before you leave the service center to try the GPS test, and see if it works, so that they can see it first hand..

Good idea!

But GPS needs to be outdoor in open air, or they will get excuses!  Additional, that's the SONY's duty to check the GPS work fine.

To be honest, if I can test the GPS when I bought it, I would never buy it!

well try to get out for a few minutes and try. then come back againif it doesn't work. so that they will know, they have not done a good job repairing your phone.

Hi xqc110,

I'm sorry to hear that you've got GPS problems.

Try this:

1. Download the Gps Test application from Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest)

2. Go outdoors and make sure that you are not located in a narrow street with high buildings on both sides.

3. Start the application and check if any satellite signals are detected.

4. Press "Menu -> Settings" and then wait for about 60 seconds.

5. Press "Clear AGPS".

6. Press "back".

7. Now wait for a few minutes and then check if any satellites are detected. Make sure that the screen is not turned off while waiting.

Please let me know which of these screenshots are most similar to what you see (or attach a screenshot so that I can see for myself).

1. No signals detected.

2. Strong signals detected.

3. Weak signals detected.
