Every time I hook my phone up to my computer, my ringtone changes to the first song in my playlist instead of the mp3 I want. This is not exactly desirable. I think it has something to do with the "disabling"of the SD card while connected to the computer, but I don't know for sure. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Yes, at least if this is a common denominator between other users having the same problem...
it doesn't hurt to try it w/o it

Yes, it hurts, since this would defeat the whole purpose for why I upgraded from a feature phone to a smartphone. I may still try though.

Hi,
Some info on why the ringtone may get changed when or after connecting to computer. If you're connecting to computer in mass storage mode (MSC) then this unmounts the sd card to be accessible from the computer and your phone cannot access the memory card until this is mounted again, when disconnecting from computer. If the ringtones are on the sd card then these are not accessible to the phone while it's connected and that's why the ringtone may be changed.
Try changing the connection mode to "media transfer mode" (MTP) as this doesn't unmount the sd card and you can connect it to the computer while the sd card is still available for the phone. You can still browse the sd card from the computer in this mode.
Regards.
Ringtone changing to default:
1. when connect to PC in MSC
2. Don't keep activities is selected (uncheck Settings>developer options>don't keep activities) .
I hope this help and don't need restore to factory sets...
