Every time I hook my phone up to my computer, my ringtone changes to the first song in my playlist instead of the mp3 I want. This is not exactly desirable. I think it has something to do with the "disabling"of the SD card while connected to the computer, but I don't know for sure. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Perhaps I should connect in the other mode and see if that makes a difference...
I have this problem too, on a brand new Arc S.
The device randomly changes my ring signal to system default, and also assigns the message notification signal to some other event.
I'm very reluctant to just randomly try a factory data reset, without fairly good indication that it will actually solve the problem.
just give it a shot, don't forget to backup

I have a problem with personalising my contacts ringtones .... I have previously done this but since I upgraded to Android 4 I cannot change them from default tone .... anyone else have this issue?
So I gave it a shot, did a backup (which by the way is not supported in PC Companion) and then a factory reset. I then set my ringtone and message alert according to my personal preferences. Today the message alert had changed to something else.
Any other suggestions?

does this happen when you connect your phone to a PC or at all times?

I have not been able to pinpoint exactly what triggers this to happen.
I only occasionally connect to a PC, mostly to charge the phone through the USB port.
I have not installed any apps after factory reset, with one exception: I use DME (http://www.dmesync.com) to synchronize with MS Outlook.
This time the change seems to have happened overnight.

do you have a taskiller? antivirus? etc that might interfere with this?

No, nothing but DME added.
that actually could be creating issues.
