Android is starting..Optimising applications

I did a software update this morning around 10am..Now after 5 hours, the phone is unable to restart...It keeps showing " Android is starting..Optimising application xx of 233..."  What should i do?  Please help... Thank you.

no, the number keeps moving on..

You will have to wait until its done optimizing the apps, it's quite odd that its taking so long.

Earlier on, i shut down the phone.  But the whole process repeat itself after I turn on the phone.

Is there a timeline for such process?  Right now i cannot use my phone at all.

Mine toon only about 15 minutes or so. But after it it wont open gaming App (walking dead). Has this happened to anyone Else. Is this fixable? Other big App (Sims freeplay) opens and works fine.

I downloaded PC Companion but was not able to run it with the following msg 

" Windows protected your PC

  Windows smartscreen prevented an unrecognised app from starting.  Running this app might put yr PC at risk"

I am using windows 8.1

I reinstalled the App, and it worked. So I didnt have toto repair with pcc.
