@Eyan1

Disable your firewall and antivirus and run PCC as an administrator

Update/repair the device with PCC, as far as the last statement.

this is a user based forum, and a comment like that might not be the way to go, if that's how you feel about Sony that's on you but let them know directly >>> Local support

I have the same problem.

Now going through the downloading, optimising App stage, it is now stuck at the Android is starting. Already more than 24 hours since I started to do the update.

Really really mad at this.

I understand your frustration.  I sought help from my local support.  Below are their suggestions :

kindly be advised to try these methods one after the other if you are still experiencing it. Verify after each method whether the problem was solved, before trying the next one.

Perform a force restart to the device.

Remove and re-insert the battery (if removable), the SIM card and the memory card (if present), then restart the device.

Make sure that the proximity sensors located at the top of the display are not covered (by, for example, a hand or a screen cover/protector).

Delete any task killer apps or app managers that have been installed. These kinds of apps may cause the device to hang.

Remove unused applications. If you frequently evaluate the amount of applications you have downloaded and removes the unused ones you can improve the performance of your phone and limit the risk of errors.
Update the Xperia™ device software using either the PC Companion application (for Windows® computers) or the Sony Bridge for Mac application (for Apple® Mac® computers). This may fix known software issues. If apps are causing the problem, a software update will remove all installed apps, which are not part of the device software. Make sure you back up all data before performing a software update.

Perform a software repair.

I have to perform a repair/software update using PCC to resolve the issue.  Sad to say all datas will be gone and you will have to reset your phone all over again.

Now my problem is I have a notification to do a System Update.  I have postponed it as I am afraid by hitting the install key will get me into trouble again

I removed the sim and memory card, let it sit for awhile and reinsert the sim only.

It manage the start up and works.

Attempt to reinsert the memory card goes back into the App optimising routine.

So now using the phone without the memory card.

Bad update.

I removed sd and SIM. Multiple restarts, still no joy. I got this phone for only 4 days. Don't even know about the pc support. I'm just gonna go give it back.
