Hi there i did this on the old Club Vaio forum, and that was back in April, since then some new Laptops have arrived on the scene.
So below is listed the laptop manufacture then the laptops model number and its result in the 3D Mark 01.
The higher the score the better the laptop performs during 3D work. So a computer with a higher 3D score will be better at things like CAD work, Playing new 3D games like FarCry etc..

If you would like to run the 3D Mark on your computer to find out what it will score you can go to the following link and locate a place to download the program from.
www.futuremark.com
There are other benchmark software packages availbule from futuremark like the PC Mark 03 and 3D Mark 03 which i shall post the results of some time soon. These tests need Direct X 9 installed where as 3D Mark 01 utilises Direct X 8.
Another bit of software is Aquamark which i might get round to runing.
Hope this is of intrest to some of you.
Yeah it is pretty good, but obviously it sucked when trying to do the Direct X 9 stuff in 3D Mark 03. 4fps anyone? Sadly it obviously doesnt support all the things that make DX9 amazing, but with DX8 its excellent.
*wishes ATI 9700 was DX9 Compliant*
Still it's pretty impressive for games out before DirectX9 was required.
Good to get some results on the A series, it is using the ATi 9200 so it wount be as high as some of the machines using the 9700.
Any one out there got some more results?
Still a notebook with a 9200 is impressive
I have a Vaio A117S and the benchmark results are as follows:
3DMark03 Build 3.4.0 - 2773
3DMark01 SE - 10483
PCMark04 - 3122
The only annoyance about running 3DMark 01/03 is that neither benchmark correctly identifies the Pentium M 735; both report the processor as "Unknown 1694 MHz" and because of this they will not allow the project to be published.
Funny thing is that PCMark 04 spots the processor as a Pentium M no problems - at least with the latest build.
Hope that satisfies your appetite for scores
Thanks Claire, thats a pretty good score.
Yep that is a good score thanks for the info
I think there is a mistake with the information published about the VGN-A117S because my graphics card is NOT an
ATI Radeon 9200, it is in fact an ATI Radeon 9700.
The little sticker on the keyboard area says so, as does the hardware properties, and 3D Mark says its 9700. So im willing to bet that Sony have made a Boo Boo.
Without a shadow of a doubt it is a 9700!
Thats good then, as the 9700 is only one model away from the big boy
I just run the 3DMARK 2001 SE on my S1XP on the default settings with the following specs: M 735 (1.70 Hhz), 1024MB, 9700 Radeon with 64MB.
I got the following score: 10139.
