Memory Card Adapter doesn't work on Pcv-rs602

We have got two vaio Destktops in our bureau. A pcv-rs302 and a pcv-rs602. The 2nd one came with a memory card adapter (sd-card to compact flash). But the memory card adapter is only recognised by the first PC.

The MCA has been shipped with the PC .
It's a little block that looks like a COMPACT FLASH card. And that's where the adapter has to be put in (so it's a ).

Maybe this card is not compatible with the other VAIO.

The strange thing is that the adapter does only work on the vaio that came without any adapter card.
Is it possible that this adapter only works on the one machine, where it was plugged in for the first time??
