Hi there i did this on the old Club Vaio forum, and that was back in April, since then some new Laptops have arrived on the scene.
So below is listed the laptop manufacture then the laptops model number and its result in the 3D Mark 01.
The higher the score the better the laptop performs during 3D work. So a computer with a higher 3D score will be better at things like CAD work, Playing new 3D games like FarCry etc..

If you would like to run the 3D Mark on your computer to find out what it will score you can go to the following link and locate a place to download the program from.
www.futuremark.com
There are other benchmark software packages availbule from futuremark like the PC Mark 03 and 3D Mark 03 which i shall post the results of some time soon. These tests need Direct X 9 installed where as 3D Mark 01 utilises Direct X 8.
Another bit of software is Aquamark which i might get round to runing.
Hope this is of intrest to some of you.
Ive got the VGN-A115S and i did run both 3DMark 01 and 03 couple weeks ago but didn't note down the scores.
They aren't installed anymore either so i'll try and re-run them again in the next day or two to let you know.
Incidentally it can't run Farcry at all. Framrate is terrible and a lot of the textures are missing giving transparent polygons.
I have been looking for a laptop that can handel the sandbox editor for farcry.
What settings are you using for farcry? As to the missing poly's it might be that the moblie ATi card just cant quite cope. You could see if there is a new driver out. Also you could try the omega drivers but not sure if they work with the mobile chips.

I don't know many notebooks which can handle Far Cry.
Well Kee Lo I have found one.
The VGNS1XP has blown us away at work, we first tried it at medium resolution where it ran realy Smoothly, next came High still fine. Then we went the whole hog and pumped it all the way up to Very High and Ultra high on the settings tabs as expected it was a bit jumpy but no where near what i thought it would be, it would probabuly be playabule but a bit of patience would be needed.
Well done Sony, now all i need to do is rob a bank or something.
Sounds great
I would suggest playing the lottery but the stations are closed right now
My GRT815E runs Far Cry with out any problems, and in 3D Mark 2003 i get a score of 2217
OK, exceedingly dire results on my VGN-A115S on 3D-Mark 2003. I left all the defaults as below.
Resolution 1024 x 768
Pixel Processing - None
Texture Filtering - Optimal
Max Anisotropy - 4
Vertex Shaders - Optimal
Repeat Tests - Off
Fix Framerate - Off
I got an abysmal score of just 1107.
I did play UT2k4 last night however and it was smooth as silk with settings on max.
Thats not too bad for a notebook mind you.
Ok i have now tested my laptop ( VGN-A117S ) on 3D Mark 01, and 3D Mark 03. All settings were at default in 3D mark and on graphics card.
3D Mark 03 - 2786 3D Marks
3D Mark 01 - 10391 3D Marks
As far as i can tell, the best yet.
Thats pretty astounding
