hi i have just installed vista upgrade from xp and have done it as it says in the booklet all works fine with the pc but my internet has really slowed down i use to download at around 500-600kbs now im downloading at 30kbs can anyone help me with this problem. my isp is bt total broadband max my upstream connection on router is 448 i think and downstream is 5.5mb so tey seem ok but no reason for the ultra slow downlaoding and browsing speed.
Many routers (especially those provided by ISPs) are not fully Vista compatible.
What router are you using? Is there a firmware upgrade available for your router?

EDIT: Hi tanyel and welcome to Club Vaio!!

the router is bt's own one that comes with option 3 max its all windows vista compatible and up to date. i have been on the phone with them for the past two weeks. according to them the problem lies with my laptop as the tests they done on the line shows everyhting works fine. i have used my desktop pc with the router again on vista and all works fine. just the laptop is really slow connection
Is the desktop connected wirelessly?
What speed do you get if you connect the laptop by ethernet cable?

the desktop is connected wirelessly. i have connected the laptop with ethernet aswell the connection download speed is exactly the same.
Do you have a PC without Vista to test the speed?
Just wondering if we should be looking at Vista or the ISP as the problem.
none without vista. before i done the upgrade to vista it use to work super fast. now its the opposite. can either be vista the card i dont think its the isp because nothing has changed there.
Wish I knew where to find the MTU settings in Vista...
does anyone else know?
what is the mtu setting?
