cannot register to gmail after a hard reset please help

i need your help beacuse i only had this phone for 4 months and i never had problems until it started freezing. i did a master reset following this:

Settings> Privacy> Factory data reset.. then the phone stopped freezing however, i can no longer sign my phone in to gmail with the old acct that i had with it before i did the damn reset. here's what. whenever i log in to my gmail acct using my phone's browser, it does not have any issues AT ALL. but the phone , this x8 really cannot register to my gmail. please help.

Hi, a couple of things to take note .... Make sure you have a good connection either with Wi-Fi or Mobile Data, make sure you enter your GMail account and password correctly.

and oh.. please use this as your ref. should u need it. this info is in the About section of my phone.

Firmware versiion of this old phone is -update 1 (this is how it is typed in my phone)

and the build no. is 2.1.1.A.0.6. should u need any other info that could help, please let me know.. and please also tell me where to find it. thank you in advance.

the gmail acct has no problem,like i said i am able to access it with my pc, even on the actual browser of this x8. and i can go on facebook through the wifi that im using right now. i alrealdy tried it as well with my web package and it really is not working. i dont think i have problems with the speed of either of these connections? do u think im doing it incorrectly or am i missing something else?

Try entering GMail account and password in landscape mode.

unfortunately it didn't work. i tried it twice with the wifi and the 3g and i placed my phone on a flat surface making sure it will not chnage its orientation.. it still says cannot stablish reliable conn.. why is this phone acting up? im able to access facebook, google and all other preinstalled app at their regular speed. i again tried to log in to my gmial with my x8 browser and it was ok.can we try something else?

See if this helps .... goto GMail application, clear data, clear cache and uninstall updates.

when i go to the actual gmail icon in my menu, it goes back to "Set up your Google Account" screen, and when i press the button that has 4 squares on top of it, it shows an option for me to access my wireless settings.. there is nothing here that says clear chache /data or updates whatever, though i can see all of these in the Browser menu.. please tell me if i'm not doing it right..

Settings>Applications>Manage applications>MENU (left hard button)>Filter>All, scroll down and search for GMail.

i just did and tried to log in again. nothing is happening.. im sorry if i am giving you a hard time. i just want to have the original gmail acct back bec it has all my stuff..
