Z5 Dual, hangs severely after 7.1 update!

Hello fellow SONY users.

I have updated my Sony Xperia z5 Dual to 7.1.1 last week and it worked pretty well for a day or two. Battery consumption is better now.

BUT!!!

Unfortunately, this happiness didn't last long. After two days my phone suddenly hanged severely and even home screen disapeared (Xperia launcher). The phone became extremely slow so that none of the applications worked.

I tried software repair via my PC again. It became good again. but after a 24-hour working with my phone, this problem happened again. Although by restarting the phone the phone become stable but after a day, it will hang again!

I tried uninstalling some applications as well to see whether the problem exist or not, but that didn't help.

I don't know what causes the problem to the phone. I hope Sony make a further update available soon to solve this problem.

Thanks.

Hi,

I restarted my phone to safe mode then to normal mode and the problem does not exist anymore!

Exactly the same for me, on z5c. Real shame as it was a fantastic phone before the update

Disable it and problem will be solved.

After safe boot, my phone was much better, but degraded by the end of the day and needed a reboot.  I also cleared all cached data, but same.

Then, I cleaned up all unused apps, including movie creator.  It's been working great, 1.4gb memory used, long battery life, no heat, no lag!

Same thing happened with my Z5 after upgrading to 7.0 a couple of says ago. Clearing the cache and getting rid of unused Apps did little to help, beacuse the main problem is that the Android OS is using most of the RAM 1.9 GB !!!

Did the Safe mode reboot followed by regular reboot (also deleted Movie Creator) an so far it is working fine (but this is only 20 mins later so will see after a day or 2)

It is now nearly 3 days since I applied the solution given in earlier posts, and my Z5 is still working normally. The Andoid OS is consistently using about 1G of memeory as opposed to 1.9G.

Thanks for the fix tx99 !
