Xperia Z2 headphone jack in phone doesnt work

I have a problem with my xperia Z2 headphone jack and this is the second time its happened. First time it did I changed the Text-to-speech output from Google to Pico TTS and it went back to functioning as normal. No that it has happened again, i've tried to switch back to Google and then back again to Pico TTS but still won't work. I've tried clearing the smart connect data, still won't work. Reset the phone, no change either. I've had the phone for 4 months now, never used it in water so I don't understand why the headphone jack is not working. The headphones work when I plug them in another device. Any help on this?

I'm having the same problem. My headphone jack is no longer detecting my noise-cancelling Sony headphones (MDR-NC31EM, white in the pic below), but it is detecting my run-of-the-mill Phillips ones (purple in the pic below) occasionally. I've uninstalled SmartConnect and even gone as far as doing software repair on my phone, nothing has worked. I haven't dropped or damaged the phone either, so I know that's not the reason. I'm nervous about sending my phone for repair (I'm in the UK) because I've heard horror stories about them keeping devices for weeks and then demanding people pay them for the pleasure.

Sorted !!!!!!! Well I hope.. open up a paperclip, and gently poke around at the bottom of the jack hole.. I seem to of cured mine with a mix of: blowing hard in the hole scraping gently the bottom of the hole with the paperclip tapping the phone upside down, to knock any loose `crap` in the jack out. repeat till no more crap comes out.. mine was quite full of compressed fluff.. that I imagine came from pockets... and then pushed in deep by the headphone plug - that is pushed in `deeper & harder` to try to get it working when blocked! Do this at your own risk though...I imagine poking too hard, or scratching the sides / damaging the contacts in the jack hole, could be easily done with this method - but mine worked after first attempt!

Hi all,

Just expierienced this with my Z2 a while back. After trying a couple of internet sollutions, nothing worked... Then I came across a thread where a guy just simply cleaned his audio jack on his phone using a toothpick... Tried it and removed a fair amount of pocket fluff... This did the trick and my phone is working perfectly again.

a toothpick was the safer option for me as you dont run the risk of damaging the inside of the jack with a wooden toothpick..

In the end, I had to factory reset then update the Music app and restart my phone.

All local phone repair companies infrormed me that it was a hardware issue.

Hope this helps.
