I had the same issue with mine (And a friend is reporting the same). I had to send it to their service center where they botched the repair (left the back pannel extruding and the screen scratched). After they ignored 5 of my emails i finally got through again to send it back (Again). They botched the repair a second time, leaving the pannel extruding once more, and added another scratch to the screen ignoring my request to replace it also. After 6 phonecall's (they claimed they would phone me back with a suitable adviser each time and never did) and two more emails, they finally admitted they screwed up and sent me a new phone.
All i can say is good luck, it took me two months.
Try to clear data for smart connect under settings-apps-all.Also,look for any kind of dirt that might be in the 3.5 mm input.
I cleared all smart connect data, tested with some headphones and still only left headphone work. Ofcoures i looked at 3.5mm input and it was clear.
Any other options?
Stop by a sony service and have the device examined.

I make phone call to my local Sony Center where i bought my Xperia Z2 and they tell me that it will be faster if i call Sony using number which i will find somewhere on website and sony will send courier to my house take my phone, send it to inspecion and then return it to me.
After reading Radec opinion and experience i think it will be better if i will make my complaint in Sony Center rather than using courier option.

hi i have same problem ive bought it last week it was ok then i find out it doesnt recognize my nc31 or ether headphones and just playing on phone speakers sony center told me its hardware problem and they shoud open the phone to change 3.5mm jack but they dont warranty water resistant any more
but one of my friend had same problem he said that he updated kernal version and some other setting on his phone (not android) his problem was solved by that
my phone is recognize the head phone (i dont know how but it is 😄 ) but it isnt stable still working dontknow when it will brake again
Try navigating to Settings->Accessibility->Text to-speech ouput->change preferred engine from Google to Pico TTS

I have my phone fixed on warranty, mechanical failure of headphone jack they also gave me new headphones.
