Xperia Z - Error Ocurred During Tethering

Dear All,

I am in trouble due to tethering error on my Xperia Z. I have checked all the disscussions. I have asked assistance of Sony Customer Care in Turkey. I tried all the recommendations. No solution yet. As far as I understand, you are also experienced on this problem. If you find a solution, please share with the community too.

This is not same us my case. My operator confirmed that, there is no restriction for internet tethering. Same sim card is working on iPhone 5 without tethering problem.

your carrier may not be telling you the truth - this is the only logical explanation for your problem

please give details of your carrier or research it yourself in your country

Dear all,

I am pleased to inform you that, I have tried with another operator's (Avea TR) sim card and internet tethering function has worked. It seems that, there is an incompatibility problem between Turkcell TR and Xperia Z. Or, Turkcell TR is applying a hidden restriction to Xperia Z.  This restriction even may be intentionally in my opinion.

The problem is the APN settings.

Check all the APN settings on your phone.

If one of them has "dun" in "APN Type" field, your phone will use this APN setting for tethering.

Either remove this APN setting completely or if you can not remove the setting as me, clear this APN setting field.

None of the APN settings should have "dun" on their APN Type field unless you want to set a different APN account for tethering.

APN Type "default,supl" for the main APN setting is enough for most of the cases. Please check with your operator.

Hope this will solve your problem.

A small notice : Do not forget to save changes on APN settings before exit.

Hi, I have the same problem. I have heard that the next update (4.4.3.) fixes the tethering problem. Cannot wait!
