Hi all,

I have problems with my WiFi speed. First I found youtube to load videos quite slowly. After that I used "Oookla Speedtest" to check network speed. I have 6MBit DSL-connection at home, but if I use the speedtest after the WiFi has been switched on for some minutes, I only get ~1Mbits on the Xperia Z3 compact. If I switch WiFi off and on again on the phone, I get the expected ~5Mbits. This happens not only at home, but also at work and at my parents house. WiFi router types are different in all the 3 places.

The problem persists even If I stand 1m away from the router. WiFi reception is shown to be very good on the phone. My old iPhone 4S does not have this problem. Since turning off and on WiFi on the Z3 compact solves that problem for some minutes, I blame it on the phone itself. I already tried turning off and on the phone, as well as factory reset. Problem persists. Any hints?

How do I know the number? As I've said, I bought this as an unlocked phone and it should not belong to any operator right? I bought this on a popular online seller of gadgets in the Philippines.

Can you check if it does come originally from an operator? What information do you need?

Hi guys

My wife bought this mobile yesterday and she was trying to update the phone but she get this slow connection after a few minutes.

Firmware is the version 23.0.1.A.5.77.

I read the 8 pages and i didn´t understand.

There is already a solution or it`s better to return the phone back ?

Lollipop it´s not available yet for this phone. Updating for Lollipop will resolve this issue?

Sorry to hear that.

The issue with WiFi getting slow is fixed in the version she has (23.0.1.A.5.77) so she should not have any issues with slow WiFi.

When WiFi is slow, does it help if she turns WiFi off and on again?

How slow is it? You can download a speedtest app from Google Play to check the connection speed.

The same problem here:
I have a Z3c with 23.0.1.A.5.77 and the Wifi still gets very slow after a few minutes. Switching off mobile data does not help. If I switch off and on wifi then the speed is ok (15MBit testing with speedtest) but after a few minutes download speed drops down to 0.2 Mbit. As I remember with the previous firmware wifi speed degradation happened after a few days. The wifi is practically useless with this version.

In the end I sent my phone away to be checked, and they replaced the entire pcb on warranty. It works great now.

Just bought phone two days ago and having same problem. Tried everything everyone els has listed and nothing seems to work. Build number is 23.0.1.A.5.77

I've had the phone since October but no issues, however the past couple of days I've noticed a decrease in the WiFi speed. Normally the bit rate would be about 13Mbit, but on my phone it seems about half that, I get a speedtest download speed of about 500kb/s whereas I would normally get around 1.3mb/s. My desktop is connecting at the correct speed so it's not my isp.

Was someone able to get it replaced on the warranty, did you go through your mobile provider or through Sony?

Same problem here.

I just received my phone. This afternoon it was working great, I was able to update apps from Play Store (the ones already installed), and install a new one. Everything via WiFi mandatory because my carrier didn't activate my SIM card yet.

However this evening, it's a nightmare. Suddenly the wifi stops working, I don't know why. Actually I noticed that as soon as I open the Youtube app, my wifi drops. Don't ask me why... I then disable/renable the wifi, Speedtest is working, Chrome is working (I can browser some pages successfully), then I open youtube again, baaaam failure and Speedtest tells me "Network communication problems". Modifying the Wifi advanced settings doesn't change anything. Maps seems to work fine too, it's only Youtube that is crashing my connection as far as I can tell.

My firmware is 23.0.1.A.5.77.

Any ideas? Rickard?

Should I send my phone back to the store?

Apparently the update doesn't solve the wifi problem completely...
