WiFi slow after some minutes

Hi all,

I have problems with my WiFi speed. First I found youtube to load videos quite slowly. After that I used "Oookla Speedtest" to check network speed. I have 6MBit DSL-connection at home, but if I use the speedtest after the WiFi has been switched on for some minutes, I only get ~1Mbits on the Xperia Z3 compact. If I switch WiFi off and on again on the phone, I get the expected ~5Mbits. This happens not only at home, but also at work and at my parents house. WiFi router types are different in all the 3 places.

The problem persists even If I stand 1m away from the router. WiFi reception is shown to be very good on the phone. My old iPhone 4S does not have this problem. Since turning off and on WiFi on the Z3 compact solves that problem for some minutes, I blame it on the phone itself. I already tried turning off and on the phone, as well as factory reset. Problem persists. Any hints?

Thanks a lot!

Sorry to hear that some of you still have issues with WiFi Slightly_frowning_Face

The issue found by noize is fixed in all later versions of our software. If you have 23.0.1.A.5.77 or later and still have issues with WiFi there's something else wrong and we need more information to find what may cause it. To avoid confusion and mixing different issues it may also be best to create a new topic on the forum.

But one possible cause of issues with WiFi is what selfy says. You may have a Google backup causing issues as it contains WiFi settings. To check this you need to perform a master reset of the phone and when you then add the Google account, make sure to disable the option for backup and restore with Google (it's enabled by default).

As i understand it, the issue found by noize was not specific for our products. The same issue could be found in other brands as well. Not sure why you can't find other discussions about it but i'd like to think it's because we have a great community here where issues are discussed and hopefully solved Slightly_smiling_Face

It's 2017 and I still have the same identical problem as @noize
The phone I use is an Xperia z5 and the last update is marshmallow 6.0.1
Will it be fixed?

I've been having wifi issues with my z3 for a few days. Running slow or saying check connection. Just remembered I'd been messing with the frequency band on my router and turned on 5 GHz frequency band when before i only had 2.4 GHz frequency band on. I've now turned the 5GHz frequency band off and am no longer having wifi issues. Why this thread has been marked as solved I'll never know as not once did i see this suggestion posted. Another thing to try. Good luck
