Water damage sony xperia z1 compact!

Hello, since this phone is waterproof i wanted to try it under water, and when i putted it under water, while all the slots were closed properly and there was also a phone cover protecting it, my phone turned off and from then it didnt switch on again also after i pressed the power button like 10 times

It really isn't that simple. If you move a device around you are exerting a pressure on it that wouldn't otherwise be present if the device were still.

I can imagine it can also be quite difficult to prove whether a device was used for longer than 30 minutes or deeper than 1.5 m full stop. These specs really aren't meant for swimming.

Another thread on this forum states, that z1c bends (as iphone 6 does:) ) More people said, that their phone bent, so i checked mine and although it's not easily noticeable, my phone is also a little bent. I noticed, that when i put it on a table or another straight surface, it lays OK on the display side, but when i put it on the back side and try to press the corners, the phone moves. Not sure if i's beacause of the aluminium frame and consequent lack of flexibility, but I think, that on even a slightly bent phone, the flaps do not have to be 100% waterproof anymore. I am lucky, that i resisted to try waterproofness of this phone, but you can try to point this out in communication with sony service and maybe they won't be able to use their stupid nonfair BS argument about not properly covered flaps.

Just speculating, but because many people that were reporting drowned phone stated, that they were taking underwater pictures, another way of entry of water to device could be the moving camera button.

well i bout z1 one month ago and today i i was havig ice cream and my cousrin whos of 3 years dropped icecream on my phone so i just took the phone under the water tap as the flaps were tightly closed after some time i seen the moisture on camera lens which shocked me the phone was woking properly i was kinda scared and switched off the cellphone and oppend the flap i found water in the memory card slot i never opened the memory card flap cover just once when i tool the phone to insert memory card   later i tried to turn it on and it didnt turn on  i went to the service center they told they will inform me till saturday whats the fault anyone has the idea what will be the repair cost of it in

ok, so i bough my phone 1 month ago, was a little scary to take it underwater but went to a pool and try it, check all that all the covers were closed, took all pics good, i read that after take it into the pool had to wash it with fresh water, i did it after and the power button and volume down werent working well, after a few trys the power button work out and i thougt it was all good, after a while i took the phone and the screen start blinking into dark, then all dark, but the phone still works, touch works sounds when you take a picture with the fast button, when u dial a number, sounds all notifications but still the screen is black... im going right now to the place i bough it and hope it have a solution. 

(Note: i bough my phone in my cellphone company, days before this i went to a sony store and ask for support and tips about my phone, they said they cant give it to me because i didnt bought the phone at the store, i found this unnaccetable, still is a Sony Product and the Costumer and Support service must be given)

when i playing beside the pool, i put my phone into the water and take out, not more than 1 sec, after that the phone still work nice for few min.. immediately clean up that phone already, but the on/off button totally no function and my screen will keep on off automaticly and i just let it drain battery out because even when i off that phone also will auto on back..

after that day 2, the phone still keep on off automaticly.. i just downloaded 1 software to turn off the screen... and wake up the phone by pressing volume up? this phone is totally **bleep**.. i buy a waterproof phone and put into water, after that i just get laugh by my friend? this is really ambrasing and i will never buy sony phone anymore..

so i left it behind it recovered on the day 5... 

so after this phone no more sony thx..

Hello i live in India and i bought xperia Z1 just a month ago and its water damaged as the flaps was closed the water went in it was working and i didn't realize that the water entered my cell after couple of hours i seen that there was water condensation on both the camera lens the cell was working and the cam to but I didn't want to take any risk i rushed to the nearest sony service center and gave them the cell and my battery was almost dead they tried to start the cell it didn't start even they tried to charge the cell it didn't start. I paid the money 350Rs and gave them the to check the cell and they told me they will inform me they called me after couple of days and told me the cost will be 23000/- I asked them can you tell me what need to be changed and what repaired the lady on the counter said we don't know about it the sony repair center inform us about the price not the parts to be changed I told her that i wanna know what parts you changing and why she told 'sorry we don't know anything about it' i went to the service center and i asked i need to know what stuffs are you changing i need to know after some time she bought a paper which was half torn probably tried not to show the price to us but as i see the paper the 5 things to be changed

. 1st camera (but it was working)

. 2nd battery ( i don't find it necessary)

. 3rd speakers

. 4th I think the back cover (IDK why they need to change it when i don't even have a single scratch on it)

. 5th i dont know not a major stuff think so

at first they rejected to show the stuff and later they show the list can you please tell me the cost of the all this stuff if i go to repair it thank you

I wrote earlier about water damage to my Z1 comp. Well the phone was repaired, even the display and the back cover was replaced free of charge. The service said also the motherboard had to be replaced, so got new IMEI. To tell the truth I rather think it is a new phone...

so guys as they gave me the estimated cost which was 23975Rs

I refused it and told them to give me my phone back as i bought the cell home back and just kept for charging it is working like before i checked the back pannel the phone was not even disassembled to check the parts inside what kind of service is that when the phone is wonking fine what money are they asking about

@oscaralmgren same thing happened with me only it was z1... it wont start or take charge only those three vibration comes.. after some time it gone even after pressing the power button,, now it is given for repair but i dont know whether it will turn on or not
