I own an Xperia Z(C6603) and it has the latest Jelly Bean installed. As seen in the link above, Turkey got the Google Android 4.4 (Kitkat) upgrade on 2014-05-21. When I go to Settings / About phone / Software update / System it says: Your device already has the latest available system updates.

Why is this so?  Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? Will I ever be able to upgrade to KitKat using only my phone and not a computer? If yes, can I get an approximate time for it?

This is not a unique thread your question and answers to be given has been mentioned more time on this forum than i'd care to count - Updates are released and are country and network dependant - some countries get it early and some don't - Also networks play a part, If your phone is branded then it is up to your network to aproove the release if it's generic then you may have to wait untill all networks aproove the update, then and only then will generic handsets get the update

As for a time - As this is a user support forum then sorry to say but we don't have access to this info

I have only one problem with your post.

This: "Updates are released and are country and network dependant - some countries get it early and some don't."

In my post, I already stated that my country got this update. The only problem is that I can not update the phone via the Settings menu located inside the phone itself.

Also, my phone is not branded by any network and it's an original/genuine device.

If your customization number is 1272-5481 then its not released yet, only 1271-5145. You have to use Pc Companion or SUS to update.

Thank you for pointing this out. My Customization Version is actually neither but 1270-4975_R3C so I guess I'll have to wait and someday I will be able to upgrade the phone using just the phone and its 3G connection.

I just found a very useful link for anyone who wants to check if an update for their phone is out.

Your customization number can be found in your service menu (dial *#*#7378423#*#* > Service info > Software info > Customization Version).

I think u r talking about OTA Update (Over The Air update), that depends on the size of update mainely because everyone has limited data connection plan so the every manufacturer releases the update over OTA only if it is small in size but for large size update you have to use PC or Wi-Fi to download the same (as Apple does).

As u want to update from 4.3 to 4.4 over 3G then I don't think SONY has released OTA update due to large size (around 1GB).

Over The Air update does not mean 3G. It means, update within the cellphone. You can do it both with 3G or wi-fi. Thus, the release of updates has nothing to do with limited data connection plans of customers.

And, I am happy to announce that the update is finally out! My cellphone gave me a warning about it 30 minutes ago.
