I am having an issue with my Z3 Comact where I sometimes get a "bounce back" effect when swiping through things such as home screens and photos, eventhough I've not reached the end or the start. It happens at irregular intervals. Some times I need to swipe up to three or four times in a row before a successful swipe (but that's rather rare).
What's causing this? Is it a known issue to Sony? Is it a firmware issue? If so, has it been addressed in a newer firmware version? I am currently at 23.0.A.2.93, the latest in my region.

I had thought that myself, but I've tried not touching the phone at all (having it flat on a table) and the touch screen will still play up sometimes (a lot less tho) . It does seem very sensitive compared to my old iPhone and the problem occurs a lot more when using my thumb to scroll.
Exactly. I think the touch screen is so sensitive that it sometimes still picks up your finger even after you've lifted your finger off the screen. When after a swipe I lift my finger higher from the screen than i usually do, then I rarely get the bounce effect. Also using less pressure and shorter swipes seems to help.
Yes, I do have the same problem with my new Z3 compact aswell - I recognized it yesterday the first time... first 3 days of usage before were fine.
Hi,
I am switching from an iPhone, the bounce-back effect and screen responsiveness of Xperia Z3C is very annoying...
Can this be fixed via firmware or software update?
Current FW installed: 23.0.A.2.93
I've found that on my phone I can gradually scroll down with my thumb and then slightly raise it off the screen and continue to scroll and the screen will still move, my thumb has to be very close but it does move without me actually making contact. Does anybody else have this? Can anybody who doesnt have the problem feedback on whether they experiance this? I'm guessing this is what causes the problem. Is there anyway to make the screen less sensitive? I have tried and a screen protector doesnt help at all, its nice to have a responsive screen but this is WAY over the top!
This is likely because of the glove mode technology, the effect is even more apparent with glove mode enabled.

I got my new z3 compact today, and this bug is really a let down, specially because the #demandgreat that sony is promoting...
i have read a bunch of forums with a lot of people with the same issue, in one of them a guy said that the problem was gone when installing nova launcher, im going to try that and i will post again if i see a better response of the touchscreen..
Sony pls help with this, i didnt spect this annoying issue for a $500 phone.
Having come from a Galaxy S3, I first came across this on my Z3 Compact and it annoyed me. However 2 weeks later and the issue is gone, but I can reproduce it.
My S3 needed long deliberate swipes to move the screen, a short sharp swipe would only make it move a bit and then move back. The Z3 is very different beast.... an awesome device.... and is quite the reverse of S3. Short sharp swipes move the screen, long deliberate swipes make it bounce back. I am used that now, just a change of habit !
A week has passed since i installed Nova Launcher on my z3 compact, the issue is almost gone; the interface is fluid and does not bounce back, nor in the application tab, the homescreen tabs or the widgets tabs, everything there works well, but the problem is still present in some applications like album or aplications with large contact list like the contact manager, whatsapp or hangouts, it happens sometimes when you swipe down on the list.
if this issue is bottering you a lot, i recomend you to install some launcher.
this is problem about more soft-touch sensitive screen... screen detect touch when I move finger 0.3mm over screen... this s*ck... I running on latest 23.0.A.2.105 firmware and problem still here... sony must make a soft-touc / hard-touch settings to display!!! this is not acceptable from 400€ phone

400 euros? Don't you mean 500?
And the problem is very likely related to the screen technology for the glove move, because with the glove mode on, it even detects touch at 1 - 1.5 mm above the screen. Sony would need to make the screen slightly less sensitive while glove mode is off. I'm pretty sure they could do that through a firmware fix.
