Hello everybody,
I've updated my Xperia Z2 to Android 6.0.1. Now my ps3 controller won't connect via Bluetooth anymore. If I go to the connectivity settings of my phone it only shows how to connect a PS4 Controller.
Did they seriously remove the Ps3 Controller Bluetooth connectivity in the new Android Version?? If so, I would be more than pissed. I don't want to buy a PS4 controller for 60 Euros...
Could someone enlighten me, if there is still a built in possibility to connect my ps3 controller via Bluetooth to my phone and I'm just to stupid to find it?
If they removed that feature, I won't buy a Sony Product anymore. This is just plain stupid.
Regards,
Matthias

What if you use a USB OTG cable? I don't have a DualShock3 to test it, only DualShock 4

Hey,
thank you really much for your reply. And I thought I know how to use Google...
This is really a pity. My post somehow got into the Xperia Z3 section. I own a Xperia Z2 and was able to play with my Ps3 Controller until yesterday.
Yeah, it is working with the USB cable, but it gets in the way when I want to play.
But I still think this is stupid. They had the piece of software for the Ps3 Controller to connect via Bluetooth, but simply ditched it, so people have to buy a PS4 controller. I think it wouldn't have been a problem to still support the Ps3 controller for the skilled android Devs. And the PS4 controller costs a fortune. Can't remember controllers being that expensive.
But still, thank you very much for your help.
Regards,
Matthias
Indeed they are expensive, an alternative, you can use a wiimote for basic games but do send your feedback to Sony
This marshmallow update is turning into quite a disaster.
After the removal of manual white balance settings in the stock video camera (see http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3/No-more-WB-video-settings-in-Marshmallow/m-p/1119555#U111955...), I found out it is impossible now to connect a dualshock 3 controller (for playstation 3) to the Z3!!
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I use(d) my Z3 a lot to play games, and I do so exclusively with my (PS3) controller. (To me, it was quite a big selling point of the Z3.) Is there any way to still connect the dualshock 3 to the Z3 in marshmallow? (If I try to connect my dualshock 3, it asks for a pincode, which I don't have. Is any workable code available, perhaps?)
It would be quite ridiculous if I'd have to buy a ps4 controller (and clamp) especially for this (I don't have a PS4).
There seems to be no other solution than to find a way to get back on Lollipop, but I'm afraid I'll have to root and I don't want to do this. Why these big software update don't come with huge warning signs (as to which functionalities are about to disappear), is beyond me. Knowing all this beforehand, I would have never updated in the first place.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Bart.
Only ds 4 controllers are now supported,
this is a marketing strategy as they say, so that people will buy the new controller.
if you want to revert to previous version of android, you can by using Xperiirm or flashtool
That has been asked before, you can still use the DS3 but only while using the cable, only DS4 it's supported through bluetooth.
