Phone does not recognise contacts

I have a few contacs on my phones address book that my phone just will not recognise when they phone or txt me. Ive tried deleting and re saving the number, syncing to google but it just doesnt seem to remember them.

On your computer > access your Gmail > contacts > add the contact > sync your phone 

and/o

on your phone > open the phone app > look for the number (whenever they called you) > click on then Add to Contacts > Create a new contact > enter name/last name > Phone contact or Google contact > open the phonebook > check the filter if phone contacts are set to be displayed or not.

Maybe they have setup not to send their phone number or hide it when calling

The number shows when they call me and i can see its the same number as the one in my contacts but the phone doesnt seem to be making the connection.

I've added her as a google contact 3 times now, Its working now tho, turns out i had 3 versions of the same google contacs list on my phone and i just had to figure out which one the phone was working from and link it to that. What a fuss! Thanks for the help.
